@missfranky Well, I think she's very pretty in a less conventional way. She definitely doesn't have a supermodel body or a film star face — no hard round boobs or high chiseled cheekbones. She has a very different sort of prettiness, beautiful eyes and lips, lovely shaped arms and legs (Moon Dance, anyone?), kind of smoky and adorable rather than dazzling and hot. It's something far more memorable IMO, though less instantly noticeable, than all Frasier's hot girls of the week.

There's something slightly heart-breaking about the fact that Frasier's found such a deep connection in this bizarre way. He obviously misses his mum but, although the program makes light of his romantic failures, he's relieved because someone cares for him. I think that's quite tragic almost on a par with a Greek play.

@Dormyr True, though the fact that Frasier is a Freudian makes it Oedipal more in the modern sense (in my humble opinion); not to be a cynic but giving Frasier a girlfriend who looks like his mother is a nevertheless well-constructed but kind of obvious plot device to have at some point. One might say (as a Freudian) that every man has separation anxiety about his mother at some point.
