this is crap! dont stand in one place when performing a monologue! it will put people to sleep .... how often do we just stand in one place and talk! we are always moving around, therefore to make the monologue look as realistic as possible you've gotta to add movement!!!
I wasn't saying that the guy in this video was giving a monologue. I was saying IMO I think movement should fit the monologue YOU choose to do.
IMO he gave okay advice, but to me he was bit distracting.
Sure if the monologue requires little or no movement, then moving too much would not be wise, nor make much sense.
However on the other flip side if the monologue one chooses has a lot of movement then it may make sense to add a little movement when giving a monologue.
OK advice, and not to be negative, but he should take a public speaking course. He's kind of distracting.
I think movement should fit your monologue piece. Standing completely still may come off as a sign of nervousness, while moving to much may look like you are anxious.
Do your best not to be stiff, be loose and relaxed, but don't over do it.
That's my advice, though I know no one really asked for it. :)
Wikipedia!? Flavioparenti, dude (or dudess), try to lose the negativity. The good Doctor Grimes is not auditioning for us. He's just offering us a few audition tips presumably based on his own experience. If you don't agree with his advice, then don't use it. It's no big deal and It's certainly not that complicated.
Very interesting Idea, but should learn how to monologue before teaching it.. you lack of rythm while you speak and have a lot of micro movement around the muscles of your face and shoulder.
When you act as a job, difference between reality and fiction tend to disappear. How can I believe someone with so many uncontrolled movements, obviously unaware of himself, can teach me how to control myself? And "speaking" in front of a camera is not "speaking", it's "monologuing". It looks like he knows what he wants to say, and he may even have rehearsed before shooting. That's call acting :)
When you act you need to be aware of yourself on stage (as he says...) and i see many uncontrolled movement in the video. And for whoever think he's not doing a monologue, please read wikipedia description of a monologue: "A monologue is an extended, uninterrupted speech or poem by a single person. The person may be speaking his or her thoughts aloud or directly addressing other persons, e.g. an audience, a character, reader, or inanimate object."
