Whats up with the camera man? You need to slow down. Im using a 32" monitor and i got really dizzy... You are moving way to fast... CLA is great at mixing. Love the mix not the song... GREAT>>>> POST MORE
@labanx I can tell you that equiptment isnt tired at all. I still use my Urei compressors from the 70s and not one plug in even comes close to sounding as good. Just have a good tech guy and all the equiptment will work for 30+ more years.
ppl have been making good recordings ever since the technology first appeared, after getting the hang of it. We are doing so now, even tho it may be surrounded by a plethora of so-so material. A mixer with this experience and good sense will do a great job with plugins or top-notch vintage gear. Different?: yes. Better or worse?: 6 billion answers.
Amazing!! Just simply amazing!! Not only is the band a talented group. But so is the audio.mix engineers. Such important ppl in the record industry. God bless you all.
waves plug ins sound 95% the same as the analog, but u better have a "Great mic" and a top "Tube Pre Amp" in order to get a good mix with the plug ins!!!
Even if plugins were close enough to sound like real hardware (imo they never are), some people find it more comfortable and home to turn knobs. For example I end up with better results by mixing drums' eq with a real mixer than software eq. And hey, if you have money and skill, you can do just like this guy. Using plugins is affordable and that's something everyone can do in their little home studios. I don't think this guy could find as good plugins as that hardware is.
@VesqVj I know this an old comment, but the plugins he's using were built from the hardware, to exactly replicate it in a much more reliable and usable way.
@BlackSoulent Its the different between the analog and digital sound. Hardware offers that warm analog feeling where as Digital (in-the-box) plugins only get so close. For example, they have tape imitators, that give your mix the feeling of 24inch tape, but its not, nor will it ever be the same sound as if you were to print to a 24 track on tape.
It makes me wonder if the producers controlling all those really know what all they do or if maybe they just sometimes pick a knob to turn to make it look like they do. :P
your gear is terrible and I'll gladly help you get rid of it :-p

What it does is very very simple. Most people don't know because most people don't care, not because it's in some way complicated.
But this is Green Day, and shit Green Day at that. It wouldn't have sounded any worse without it.

my question is! if the plugins suppose to sound just like the hardware. what is the need for hardware anymore. why not just rack up on plugins?
