I love this cover as much as the original...but the soundtrack version seems a little weak to me. Where are the friends?! The voices of the boys in the movie worked so well together. Here we only get Max and Jude.
Sure, their friendship is the most important one in the film, but still...
Ringo(lead vocal on THE ORIGINAL 'With A Little Help From My Friends') has such a distinct voice and it never changes,he sounds just about the same today (at nearly 70) as he did with The Beatles.
Speaking again of Ringo's vocals, I'm very serious when I say many people have commented(literally)on my music video 'It's A Complicated World' that my singing sounds similar to Ringos!
lol this is ganna sound weird but I just watched a extremly sad movie and i needed something to cheer me up and i youtube'd this song haha wow im weird.
The person who tries to live alone will not succeed as a human being. His heart withers if it does not answer another heart. His mind shrinks away if he hears only the echoes of his own thoughts and finds no other inspiration.
Mr. Harper, the current prime minister of canada (Canada's President for those of you in the good ol' US of A) sang this as a total surprise at a concert that he was visiting, only his wife knew about it before he walked on stage, not even his security or the concert planners
i must admit this is the only song i didn't like covered in this movie. Having said that i do think (and dont shoot me) that Joe cockers version of this song is better than the Beatles'.
Gosh, I love the original Beatles version - but I think I actually like this one a little more, not much though. Across the Universe was so much fun for me to watch because I got to hear GOOD covers of my favorite Beatles songs - and one or two I hadn't heard beforehand!
I love the fact they chose to blend both verisons. Obviously Cocker wouldn't have had a problem with it since he was in the movie, and as I said...it exists.
Fun scene to watch. That's pretty much what this movie is: A stream of fun musical videos with a decent plot connecting them. Take it for what it is, and it's great.
I just suspect people got pissed off because
a.) It strayed from the formula.
b.) It wasn't Moulin Rouge
c.) Voice editing (thought they cracked up on film)
I have to admit those kids can certainly pull it off they did a great job singing and playing these songs. I've noticed LOL how they near the end of this song they used a similar chorus beat from Joe Cocker's With a little help from my friends. Anyway cool.
I basicly watch this movie everyday. And i love when he says i get high with a little help from my friends and there smoking a fake joint but he puffs real smoke.
Yes, on the most part, but some of the songs are best original, and nothing less. But there are some that are better, like I want to Hold your hand...I prefer the movie version of this as well..
Both versions are good, because they both sing about peace, firstly, and secondly they both have great lyrics and even rythm. ATU and The Beatles are incredible, but The Beatles started it.
I think that the movie really tried to tell the history of the mid sixties through the mid seventies through the eyes of beatle songs....the evolution of their music along with the ongoing turmoil of the vietnam war as well the racial tensions and social ills...that sorta thing... but it was told through the lens of the beatles really...I think they were a little too cute with the movie but...I liked their interpretation of some of their songs.
oh i love this cover

the beatles. cocker covered it a couple years later; his version was used as the theme song to "the wonder years".

This movie really made some of the best covers I've ever heard. Especially for a musical!
My favorite is probably Let it be. It is very touching.
