  • But that's a boots we make moccasin and attach leg gins to it. so, this one is incorrect. But, this video very creative tho :)

  • It's out of respect tho that this what is called costumes are still worn as we call it "Ragalia" Traditional Dresses for women worn many times. I'm not mad at all about this, I just wish that more people would understand it's base on principle and honor that this dress is out of honor when we wear them.I wouldn't wear something just because it's looks cool for a day there is more meaning behind these to us. The moccasin she made was cool.

  • I watched this just out of curiosity. I tea some of the comments zoo much bashing & hating. I do see both sides.Pocahontas is not just a character from Disney, she was a woman a daughter of a chief. It's not just a character, Disney is used for educational purposes not just romanticizing what is a missed conception. There are many other costumes out there like to wear nurse outfits, football player, cheerleader, the 60's or from back in the 20's.

  • I love this idea and you pulled it off really well!! :)

  • You look NOTHING like a native american, you're obviously a full asian..FOB.

  • @makavelidada That is not disrespectful. You're ignorant. This obviously represents the past. I think she knows Native Americans don't make teepees and wear deer skin clothing anymore. Some people would like to know how to make this. She never claimed this was a present day hoax. Get over yourself. I'm part of "your people" and I'm not getting offended over something that was never meant to be offensive.

  • @Nanxama-deer skin, buck skin, elk skin is still use in the northern plain by us lakota, dakota,Nakota tribes use a traditional dress still this day.Fancy shawl dancers don't use them because it's too heavy..lol..Your correct about the past is just the past, but it's also what made us who we are now and keeping our identity alive. Being part of the people isn't by blood or living in the rez but thriving from it as one & educating others of our history<3<3

  • Makes me sick when others try to dress up as my people... It's ignorant, not to mention humiliating.

  • @Tianajapp it's for Halloween, it's a DISNEY character...get over it. People aren't trying to do that on purpose.

  • @sk8element24 Oh really? Maybe next halloween I should paint my face black and walk around with cutton bags in my hand. Does that sound more appropriate? Seriously, this whole "let's dress up as someone from another culture"-attitude pisses us off....

  • @Innkaris I'm not black?? So go ahead...idc

  • @Innkaris and people are still gonna do it anyway so...AND why are you even watching this video then??

  • I decided to be Pocahontas for halloween this year and this was SO helpful!!! The fabric I uses for the skirt already had a tribal pattern sewn into it already and I used plain tan fabric for the poncho!! It looks awesome... Thank you so much!!!

  • love this!! definitely doing it for halloween, thanks for the inspiration! :)

  • Great costume!! =) Love it! I love how creative you got with it! I am Native American and usually I think it's funny how some guru's make follow the stereo typical look of a Native...with 2 braids and a feather sticking straight up in the back. Like seriously! lol But yours I loved!! =) Good job girly!

  • @HummingBird1107 lol... thanks so much... great to hear that... I try to do a little research before I started this project... I didn't want to look like a silly Asian girl prancing around in skimpy clothes =D

  • @HummingBird1107 But some tribes do have one feather sticking up in the back. The Seneca tribe is a good example. It is not a stereotype just a common appropriation by people who do not know what the single feather means. Much like many people do not know what the dream catcher symbolizes.
