I think the rule of thirds works a lot better if you're shooting in a 16x9 video format. 4x3 looks very old school in my opinion. If you're interviewing, try placing the subject on the left side of the frame, in my opinion it looks better that way.
I'm not convinced that the 1/3 rule works for interviewing 'straight-on'. It looks VERY odd. Lighting good, Audio Good and no shadows. I think if you were facing (to your) right whilst 'doing' an actual interview (or at least introducing folks off camera), it may have worked better. What do you think?
