@Motorchevytoyota It wouldn't have been one more bit of work to fit a 2UZ in this truck. The headers for this 1UZ are actually made for the 2UZ but you have to modify the collector to point downward more to fit in the Taco. Pretty cool huh?
oh its the lexus sc400 engine.. i got 220000 miles on mine.. and still no problem... not sure for trucks but for daily driver.. durable as hell.. heheh plus kinda fun too...
@Zimaura353535 Oh yeah. I rev this engine so high its awesome. Takes a good beating I can tell you that. I just took some video of me offroad with the throttle pinned the other night. I'm working on the videos right now. :-)
Thx man. This truck is way too much fun. I'm getting it ready to take out to the sand at the end of this month so I'll have some other videos shortly of some sand flying. I got some paddles too! The 4.7 is an iron block heavy dog and I wanted to keep mine light as possible. The Tacoma doesn't need that much torque to make it move so I wasn't worried about using the aluminum 4.0. Just get whatever engine you get a good deal on and go for it.
It's a krinkle coat finish Powder Coating material made by DuPont. Any powdercoater can order it in whatever color. Usually these days they are needing the work so your local powdercoat guy should be willing to do it for a good price. If you go to my forum there are tons of pictures and some pictures of the shop that did it too.
@Motorfordtoyota You can make anything fit in there as long as you don't mind cutting and reworking some metal :-). 2UZ is super heavy compared to this one. I wanted this truck as light as possible. Plus the electronics are MUCH easier to master on this 1UZ too. I used an aftermarket ECU but you can use the stock wiring as well much easier. The 2UZ raises the level of electrical difficulty up very high.
@Motorfordtoyota Oh I'm not saying they aren't awesome engines! A friend of mine had the Sequoia 9the 2UZ) and that thing threw down. We would be pulling the wakeboard boat passing traffic on the way to the lake! It can be done!! I'll get a video of me flooring this 1UZ no mercy here pretty soon so stay tuned. It will be a good one! I just have to remember to make my friend video it.
@casmitherz Oh yeah, I know about the 2uzfe, we have a 2001 Sequoia, the body and nterior is beat to hell, but that engine never complains. It pulls that huge SUV all the way through the rev band. Awsome, but that 4.0 vvti is still impressive.
Sweet swap. But, you do know that by you having an open idle valve, your having unfiltered air entering your engine. You should run a hose to the intake air track and it should cure that loud whistling.
@wafflehousechevy This was like the first startup ever so you should know I don't drive it like this. I know you're just trying to help so I appreciate it. We're building a full rollcage right now so a ton of stuff is being moved around again. I'll be posting some really cool vids soon of the fabrication so check back! :-)
@cquatmann Adaptronic made in Australia. It works awesome. I drive it nearly every day and have never had a problem. I can adjust anything I want, rev limiters, throttle response, idle control, cold and hot idle down for warm-up, it all works great.

@casmitherz True, but after looking into it more, Id rather have a 1uzfe VVTi 4.0 v8. 300hp and 310 ft lbs. Its sweet!!!

I have a 1997 2wd Tacoma. Is it safe to assume I can put a v8 in? Like the Sequoia's 380hp?
