That's Mario at 0:15!!! I remembered I was fooling around with another partner and my Sihing Mario came with the spear and broke us up before things get heated up. LOL. That was in 97.
The answer to your question is Master Lacey' student is demonstrating a Buck Siu Lum (Northern Shaolin) form. That's because in Master Lacey's Sigung Kong On's lineage, they also have Buck Siu Lum and Jow Gar in their curriculum. Also, Master Lacey has learnt Hung Gar kung fu back in the late 1970's and the 1980's.
@CLFBSG That's correct. My sifu studied under Yim Sheung Mo, who was a student of Ku Yu Cheung (Bak Siu Lum grandmaster). Tam Sam and Ku Yu Cheung were friends and exchanged students. That's why they have some BSL forms (that guy is doing #2 Dun Da), and we have some Buk Sing forms (my sifu teaches Kou Da).
I'm not thrilled with the darts and tongue thing either. I suppose that's a demonstration of awesome chi power, which it would indeed be if it wasn't so gross to look at.Lol. Imho many of the attacks shown invite wrestling+judo takedowns, but if u have takedown defense and mixed choy li fut attacks with conventional striking? Nasty combo.
I learned CLFBS for a year back when I was 18 to 19. I went to the Fremantle school. It's one of my biggest regrets that I stopped going. Oh the distractions of being 19...
It's scary how fast the years go. If I'd stuck with it I'd be coming up to the end of my sixth year now. I think I'd be too old to pick it up again now :P
could someone please message me and tell me what the ceremony is all about? where the priest throws darts into that mans back, then cuts his tongue with the broken cup and marks the mens chests with his blood? im really curious, is this some sort of oath thats unique to the buk sing CLF lineage? peace.
dave lacey is amazing! I never had a chance to even meet the man....from the vids posted i have grown to respect him...and his son shane lacey is a true modern master...would love to see a movie with shane and donnie yen...now that would be perfect
I only spent 10 months at the CLFBSG back in 1993.The training was very hard but the knowelege I gained has proven invaluable. I left due to a knee injury gained during sparring.
what do you mean by saying, it puts other to shame do youmean other clf practitioner ? I am also a practitioner of clf my sifu is Grandmaster cheang ngai ping of the Philippines whose teacher was Tam sam as a brotherly advice be humble and don't brag about how good the system is. as a martial art practitioner one should be more considerate to other style. I also admire Dave lacey his good I respect him. Hope you consider my advice.

The ChoyLeeFut style has "big range" moves...
musicdisciple 4 years ago
That's why it's one of the styles recommended to tall kung fu students with long limbs. Haha.

What kind of matches and where did they took place? Also WTH was with that spiritual looking kungfu stuff near the end?
Yuxian09 4 years ago
They were full contact matches. They took place in Melbourne and Perth in Australia.
