  • sounds awesome. I'm learning this one also. would be great if you could post a tutorial

  • I really dig your vibrato. It's spot on with the song,

I've been working on this for almost 3 weeks now too. I'm almost there, by there of course I mean something close. Still need to work on my vibrato tough.

Looking forward to see the full version. Keep up with the great playing!

  • @dvmarcilio Thanks for the comment! Best of luck and looking forward to seeing your take on it. Eric's vibrato is very Clapton-like. He's a true master.

  • so far, so brilliant Tom.

  • @jamne1 Thank you! Getting there little by little.

  • Great playing man!

  • @willievega Thanks Willie!

  • Really nice, man! you basically just need that middle section and you've got this nailed! I love that Les Paul too. Your playing is super clean and smooth. Great job on this.

  • @BigDancin Thanks! I'm working on the middle part now. There are a few ways to approach it. I'm leaning towards Eric's live version, but not sure yet.

  • @BigDancin Still pulling the middle part together. It's tough getting that nice crunchy tone using the guitarport/fuzzface. Can't switch tones midway. Also working on the very end climb up...that last chord is beautiful, but don't know it yet. I also forgot to say I thought your cover was great and appreciate the comment very much.

  • Really dug that ZenDrive, very nice.

  • @ssvr Thanks!

  • I remember when you were playing the piano and drums. Glad you got that Gibson and never looked back! Great job on the song....I love those sick harmonics!!!

  • @TheKennyturtle Thanks Kenny! I sure miss those days, but always dreaded my piano lessons :) Talk soon!

  • Hey, awesome job covering Mr. Johnson (Oops! somehow that doesn't sound quite right, yet said out of RESPECT). Let's say, covering Mr. Eric Johnson... Your hands resemble Eric's in size and dexterity. You mimic his sound well, too. Great job! Look forward to hearing more as I just recently subscribed. Regarding some of the other comments, I think every guitarist should have both a Les Paul and Strat in their collection. They cover a broad spectrum and are the top of the 2 great legendary mfrs.

  • Great tone and playing.

  • Man I am glad I subbed - that was great. Reading Six's comments and yours - you guys make me sick...lol, in the best way possible! Love listening to and watching the magic roll off those fingers. I will be paying attention and listening for the Tele version. I am leaning towards Tele's and Strats, having never owned an LP, but tonally, it has me guessing. Maybe one day I will have a go at all 3? Keep on playing so I can learn and maybe move yer ars south...way south...LOL.

  • @Revolutioncasino Thanks! I wouldn't mind one bit moving down south, getting too crowded in Jesrey anyway :) I learned on a Gibson in my teens until I discovered a Strat in 1989. I've pretty much been a Fender player since then. I still have my '78 Gibson and my new Les Paul is a nice addition to the family. I see one in your future as well! Thanks again for the comment/and sub...see you over at VB!

  • Nice work. Very clean. Good playing.

  • Excellent! sounds good with the les paul.

  • Nice Tom, EJ is definitely a tough choir to cover. I learned a good part of "Cliffs of Dover" when it first came out until I went nuts trying to get it all together LOL. Never did finish that. It's been 20 years now so maybe it's time to try to finish it.

    Mike

  • @SIXSTRING63 Thanks Mike! I say give it a shot. I'm sure you will nail it. I spent many hours figuring out the two fast runs. After learning them It really helped me gain insight into Eric's approach, especially the last run. I think I can work parts into my improv stuff as well. I really love this song and Eric's "newer" tone is growing on me.

  • @SIXSTRING63 Mike, what do you think a 100% accurate transcription (including recording + proper fingering/tab) of Cliffs of Dover might be worth? Would you be willing to pay for it? It's taken me 20 years to get everything down, but I'm there now. Send me a pm if you'd like to know more.

  • man that was killer!!!

  • @Smoothtlknwhtboi Thank You!

  • Wow you have the tone down that's for sure. Sounded great, can't wait to see the final product.

  • @tac915 Thanks! I can't wait to post it. My Tele sounds a little more full and is actually easier to play (for me) for this song.

  • Great job as always (*_*)

  • Awesome! Can you explain your tone?

  • @DamianMunozMusic Thanks! Going through a Line6 Guitarport using their Soldano at a low drive setting. Also added their Fuzzface at a medium drive setting. Guitars volume and tone are rolled off about half way. Thanks for watching!

  • @ZenDriveSeven Thanks!
