So like... I'm not really a computer junkie.. im a carpenter,mason and hunting guide.. But i can tell you that i have windows xp sp3. and i can tell you i run NO VIRUS protection. i've had maybe 2 problems with virus's in the past 2 years. and manually remove and problems.

nope. doesn't work. When I restarted, it didn't give me the blue windows xp theme and when I tried to apply a theme, it gave me problems all over the place or it didn't say anything at all and just gave me the grey classic theme. I did everything you told me.

*msstyles file is responsible for buttons, start menu etc. It have be included in theme files. To make all themes work, put them to:

C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes

I think I got such an error too,

also make sure that you downloaded a service pack 2 uxtheme.dll if you have a service pack 2 xp!and the same with the service pack 1. i think multipatcher v.6.0 is for 64bit and 4.0 for 32bit .. i'm not sure

1) I used 6.0 on my XP sp3 32bit, and it worked.

2) There is no difference between uxtheme.dll in sp1, sp2, sp3, just patching uxtheme.dll aviable from sp2.

3) Some versions of multi patcher works even on earlier then XP systems.

4) Instalation process is simple:

download multi patcher, reboot system and load it in safe mode, run patcher(in safe mode), reboot system once more - done!

wtf i said do not overwrite becouse it won't work!.. do as the tutorial says. it will work. but if you did't get it i tell you.. you must do this fast oterwise windows will create a new file when you move it somewere. so drag the "uxtheme.dll" (fast) to somewere and then drag the new one where the old were. do this untill it work :P

well, obviously you have two partitions or two hard drives. so there should be no problem about having two OS's. i've never heard of your error anywere.. sorry. and again make sure that you don't delete the original.. just move the original to some place and put the downloaded one in that place where you original was!..

Hey, well I already knew how to do this, but you seem like you are an expert so yah. Well about a hour ago I tried doing it. Then when I rebooted the pc when ever I would open anything it would open that window for sending error etc. I read the error it said that there was a problem with uxtheme.dll. By the way I am currently dual booting Vista and XP SP2. So I couldn't even open task manager. So I reinstalled XP. Now I want to know why this had happened.

you must make sure that you downloaded sp2 file or it will not work. if you done that check again that you draged the original uxtheme.dll file to somewere and draged the new one into that place where the original was (windows/system32), not like drag on to that icon (..do you want to replace this blabla). if that doesn't help you, check theme dir!.. it should be at C:/windows/resources/themes.. and dubbelclick on the msstyles file, not on a theme file! now i can not explain any better :P

you download the patched file (manually) and to make sure that the file is patched you patch it with multi-patcher, it wont crash your system
