  • Great sound sting Fucked it up by putting his name on the 12 fret.

  • @ponyyak68

    Ha, ha...

    Thank you for commentary.

    Cheers

  • what is the piece you are playing? it is very beautiful..i have a squier TB precision bass it has a similar body

  • @28teenidol

    HI:

Well, I was jamming about "Autum leaves" chords progression.

Yes, the Squier Vintage Modified TB is a cool bass; I had one of them also; you can see it on my videos.

    Cheers

  • Great sound, but that is the ugliest looking bass ever!

  • @superskwrl

    Thank you for your commentary.

    Regards

  • What kind of strings do you have on there?

  • @MrMelodiousThunk

    Hi:

    The strings was roundwounds, 0.40-0.95.

    Thank you for commentary.

    Cheers.

  • Does sound nice. I might have to look into these!

  • Beautiful looking bass. I have always loved these real early Fender P Bass.

  • @Seattlecarnut

    Thank you for commetary.

Yes, this early P-bass can be a good bass nowadays. Cheers

  • @Santi66 What year is this one that you're playing? It looks like a 1955 or 56.

  • @Santi66

Well, this one is a japanese reissue. The original one comes from 1954/55.

    Cheers!

  • @Santi66 Do you play other bass guitars as well?

  • @Seattlecarnut

Yes, you can some basses and guitars in my other videos.

    Good luck

  • @Santi66 I'll check them out. Thanks.

  • @Seattlecarnut

    You are welcome

  • My gosh, what a BEAUTIFUL Bass Guitar!

  • @firelo89

    Thank you!

  • I like tele basses. I recently bought a Fender CIJ tele bass reissue, I'm not sure when it was made, but I know that it isn't an original tele bass because the headstock says "precision bass", and that it has no arm or body contours, so it isnt one of these or a mike dirnt, or a 6oth anniversary. I like how these have slightly more wood to them, are string through, and how loud and punchy the single coil is. My tele bass is my pride and joy, and I treat it like Nigel treats his fender bass 6.

  • @bassharmonica1

The Telecaster Bass was actually the first reissue (in last sixties, early seventies) of the original Precison Bass (1951).

So, these japanese model are the reissue from early (1951) Precision Bass ("Precison Bass" logo and no contour body, aka "slab body").

The "Sting" is the reissue from 1954 (contour body, sunburst) Precision Bass. The "Telecaster" Bass name comes from the early first reissue (1968).

    Congrats for your bass.

    Cheers

  • @Santi66 What does it mean "Contour Body" and "Offset Contour Body" please ?

  • @ReggattaDeBlanc

Contour body means that the body bass is contoured for the arm and body player (not "slab body", like a plank).

Offset is the Jazz Bass style body; it isn't symmetrical. The upper side is not symmetrical with the the other side.

  • @Santi66 Thank you!

  • @Santi66 Thank you for the explanation!

  • Reminds me of Autumn Leaves... Cool playing/bass.

  • @RadioMasterDude

    Thank you!

Yes, I was jamming around Autum Leaves chords progression.

    Cheers

  • I CAN ONLY UNDERSTAND THE LAST THREE NOTES!!!

  • I believe they have been discontinued but you should be able to find them on ebay. I have one my self and it's just a kick ass bass

  • @carlon2003

    Thanks for the info.

This model is still in the Fender website... but I don´t know if it will be removed shortly.

    Good luck

  • @Santi66 I got to play the real one! Check out my channel for me playing it on stage with the man himself....

  • @thebatman101069

    Yeha!

    Congrats!

  • @Santi66 thanks! I think I need to get one of these now... I didn't know they existed until a few days ago.

  • @thebatman101069

Good bas, no dubt. I think it will be easy to find, if no new, second hand.

    Good luck!

  • @Santi66 couldn't find one locally, but I found one at the Guitar Center in Oregon...649.00 (+tax and shipping) with a hard case included! Sweet deal... shipping to me tomorrow! YES!

  • @thebatman101069

    Hey!. Congrats!!!

    Enjoy it!

    Good luck, friend.

  • @Santi66 got my new baby in the mail today... it's very nice. Plays really well. Love it!

  • @thebatman101069

    Great!

    It´s a really nice bass.

Good luck with your new bass, friend.

  • Nice. Whats to modify?

  • @daverlb

Nothing. Some people upgrades the pickup (the Aero are good) but I like the sound without mods. Upgrades aren´t necessaries.

No mods on bass at video.

    Good luck.

  • @Santi66 hi! where can i find this bass?

  • @giggs102

At Musician´s friend, Music 123, etc.

It´s a Fender... no problem to find it.

    Good luck.

  • @Santi66 actually..there is.. cuz i cant find any of these telecasster like basses...

  • @giggs102

    Oh... sorry!

    And good luck!

  • Thanks for responding....was told any mods i do to my bass will decrease the value....paid 650.00...saw them on ebay..1350.00.....bought it to play and enjoy, not as an investment...what do you think about the modifications? Haven't done anything as of yet...thank you in advance for your expertise.....smooth bass lines, by the way...some day.......

  • @sdsck

Well, some mods are a good upgrade. I had a Mex P-Bass and with new bridge, tuners and pickup the bass was fine.

But I like this bass as well, without mods, it´s ok for me.

    Thank you for your words.

  • DONT GET USED TO RESTING ANY PORTION OF YOUR HAND ON THE FIBRE PICKUP.IF YOU BREAK IT, POLE PIECES WILL FALL OUT ON THE FLOOR AND .NO SOUND..I HAVE THE CIJ BUTTERSCOTCH VERSION...JUST LOVE IT...AM INSTALLING THE VINTAGE BRIDGE AND PICKUP COVERS FOR THAT VINTAGE VIBE..ALSO FENDER LOGO NECK PLATE, BADASSS III BRIDGE FOR MORE MASS AND INTONATION ADJUSTMENT.ALSO.PLEASE USE FLATS ON TNESE BASSES...THERE ARE REALLY GUITAR FRETS ON THESE BASSES AND ANYTHING BUT FLATS WILL WEAR OUT THE FRETS!!!!

  • @sdsck

Well, my playing is very smooth, I do not do a lot of pressure on

pickup or on the strings or frets.

    These basses are lovely.

Thank you for commentary and good luck.

  • since it has some sort of single coil, I wonder if it's a noisy bass, or is it just like a regular P?

  • @hasegawamiki

It´s different to the regular P-Bass split coil (that get an humbucker effect).

This pickup is sigle coil, so more noisy that the split coil.

This pickup was the first bass pickup designed by Leo Fender, inspired in the Telecaster bridge pickup.

    Cheers.

  • @Santi66 Thanks. It sounds awesome, though =)

  • @hasegawamiki

    Thank you so much!

  • Me encanta el tono de este bajo Santi, suena muy bonito y tu lo haces sonar asi tambien, muy jazzy lo que tocas, me ha encantado oirte. Un saludo.

  • @laSelvaSur

Gracias por tus palabras; un abrazo.

  • I play in a thrash metal band and I'm thinking of buying this bass I like the sound what I need to know does it have a fast neck and is it a light bass?

  • @nemakur

    Hi:

Yes, this bass got a fast neck; the weight is so so. Not very heavey, not very light, but comfortable to play.

    Good luck.

  • @nemakur

    Hi:

Yes, this bass has a fast neck. And it isn´t too much heavy, not too much light. Medium weight and comfortable to play.

    Good luck!

  • @nemakur

This bass would suck for thrash. Ibanez makes some great basses.

  • @WoWintosh I fucking hate Ibanezes and active basses they suck more, Fender and some other old brands make the best and reliable basses

  • @nemakur

Well, there are many good brands.

This old Fender model is very good, and the japanese Fender are usually great basses, very well built, like this one.

    Thank you, friend.

  • Did Sting ever play this bass with the Police? - He mainly used an Ibanez early on.

  • @ODC771

I like Police but I´m not fan.

Yes, Sting used an Ibanez Musician, and Fender Precision. Perhaps other basses. But Sting own this bass (vintage Fender) for a lot of years and he loves it; He plays this bass at concerts.

    Thank you for commentary

  • your video was the one that made me realize i needed to have this bass.... lol.... do you find that one pick-up to be noisy at higher gains? cuz it sounds super clean through the camera.

  • @eplivingston

    Hi:

    Thank for your words.

Well, this pickup is single coil, but not too much noisy.

Some people replace the pickup with Aero or other good brands but the stock pickup is good for my taste.

    Cheers!

  • Hey great demo! Just one question: Do you find the neck comfortable or is there too much of a finish on it?

  • @bassplayer403

    Thank you!

Well, some finish on neck, but comfortably for my taste. A little chunky but great vintage feel.

    Cheers.

  • u could have least played some police

  • @GazHasJazzHands

    Hi:

Yes, this bass is great for Police music, and for many music styles also. It´s a versatile bass indeed although it have only one pickup.

    Cheers

  • Is it made in japan?

  • @TheWalrus60

Yes, it is. Flawless and good quality.

    Cheers.

  • @Santi66 Thank you for the answer!

  • @TheWalrus60

    You are welcome.

    Good luck.

  • Hey man awesome bass!killer sound!!

btw its nice when u answer ppl when they ask questions!

  • @RockinwiththeKing

    Thank you for your words.

I enjoy make friends here and sharing the same hobby.

    Cheers.

  • What amp are you running this through ,sounds nice

  • @nudeadnation

An old Marshall (1992) combo, 30watts with a 12" Celestion speaker, solid state.

    Cheers.

  • been playing this one for years. everything other bass starts sounding so unsophisticated once you really dig the lows of this babe

  • @culpritto

    Yes, I agree.

This bass got a nice tone, very articuled. And the neck is very confortable too.

    I love this bass.

    Good luck.

  • i was looking at this bass thinking "wow, this thing sounds great"

but i was wondering, is it much less versatile than a normal p-bass? with a normal p-bass i can get just about any sound i want with just the tone nob.

  • @suburiboy

    Hello:

This bass is as versatile as the regular P-Bass.

I can play the same themes in both basses.

The 51/54 Pickup got good lows with crisp highs.

The difference: the regular P-Bass Pickup got split coil with hum cancelling effect.

    Happy new year!

  • I have seen your videos with so many different bass guitars. What is the real difference between the Sting Bass and the 51' Re-Issue Bass? Do they both sound the same? Thanks.

  • Hi: Yes, the sound is the same.

The differencies are in the body, because the 51 model got a slab body and the Sting is the 54 model; Back then, Leo made some improvements, like the contour body, sunburst finish and white pickguard.

But the sound is the same.

    Merry Christmas.

  • i've tried this bass and i just love the crunchy tone and sustain!!!

  • Thank you for commentary.

Yes, I agree. When Leo designed this bass he used the Telecaster Pickup with four poliepieces... And the Telecaster Pickup was the best guitar pickup designed by Leo. So the crunchy tone and sustain is guaranteed.

    Merry Christmas!

  • your welcome, have a merry christmas!!!

  • Love your playing.Thinking about buying this bass myself.Great demo.Thanks.

  • Thank you for your words

    Good luck with the bass.

    Cheers.

  • I know TI well, but they're a bit too floppy.

  • I will go for the LaBella, then...

    Thank you

  • Take your time to adjust your neck. Then it will be fine.

  • Que tono mas bueno tiene ese precision, eres un artista,cuidate.5*****

  • Hey amigo! Gracias y un saludo.

  • is that a sting signature by any chance?:)

  • Yes, it is. Japan made. I like it.

    Cheers.

  • Very nice.. and japanese fenders are brilliant! My father owns a japan tele, and its flawless.. so i'm not going to doubt your bass :)

  • Thank you!

Yes, I have vintage USA Fender guitars and basses, I had Mex Fenders also, and Japanese Fenders also. And the Japanese instruments got a great quality.

    Thank you for commentary. Cheers.

  • I love flatwounds on them.

  • Yes, the flats got a great sound it this bass. Now, it has roundwounds but in the future I will try flats on it.

  • I suggest you the LaBella's 49-109. Excellent thump and not that heavy. Really nice.

  • Thanks for suggestion. Yes, LaBella strings are good. People says Thomastik are good also.

    Thank you friend.
