I do indeed believe science over religion, and what you are trying to say is very inaccurate, the way combustion reactions work in space are different then a grenade by far. Read up on the Bang theory, it is very accurate, where as there is little to no proof of a god, or Jesus, or what have you. Science is all about the facts where as religion is a mere faith.

The reason I'm not at all a religious person, nor ever even though about doing so, is simply because there is ZERO proof of any of it. They have proof of for the Big Bang theory; such as the hypothesis of the primeval atom. It is also all based off of the universality of physical laws, and the cosmological principle. For all you knot the bible was just written by some guy living under a rock that thought it was funny.

ya in small towns up here like this one the fire-departments are all volunteer so they use the loud fire horn to wake up all the volunteer firefighters and let them know to go to the station.

two possibility's for the siren, like other people have said, once a month they test they sirens to make sure all of them are working properly, since most rely on a radio signal to activate.

The other option is some smaller citys that cant afford the equipment for every firefighter to carry a pager to be notified of calls, use a single siren to notify them to respond to the station for a call.

@PortersMob although normally they wouldn't test equipment at a time that would wake up anyone in the city who is'int completely deaf. My guess is they use it to call in firefighters.

The structure appears to be a total loss which is not surprising if a fire department is under-funded or lacking enough personnel to effectively attack a fire, they often end up taking a defensive position simply to keep it contained to that structure...

@LSBProductions1 I live accross the road from a volunteer fire department so I hear it at night all the time. It echos and different sirens from small towns go off - there is no way not to hear it.. And it will wake anyone up... Except my 4 year old daughter who sleeps through it.

Now unless you live in a town smaller than my house you're probably not gonna hear it if you're further away, in your sleep, with your windows shut. But I guess it depends on the size of your town

Those sirens are not tornado sirens. At least not here in Pennsylvania. That's the regular fire siren. Maybe it's different for you guys in California.
