"Remorse and Regret", "Core Principles" - go pull yourself. You are so full of politically correct jargon and vacuous tut-tut morality.
What Letterman has been put through was disgraceful. It could only happen in a messed up society that has no problem murdering for oil and power but gets all flappy about people having sex.
Grow up. Use your God-given reason for something better. Do something kind for others and keep your pendantic, judmental waffle to yourself.
God you are sooooo annoying? Can you remove this from you tube? What is worse. Letterman telling it like it is or you sounding like a pompous wannabee fox newsanchor?
Weird and self important --- ugh.
Try therapy. You are unbelievably pompous and insubstantial.
Pompas Dave has been slandering other public figures for years from his bully pulpit and this hypocrite was in the back room doing his employees at the expense of his poor wife and 5 year old little boy. Dave is a mean spirited so called comedian that screws his employees while ridiculing others for similar acts. You deserve what you get Dave!
It is hypocritic to have a sex with mentioned women but the confession itself is not hypocritic. Notice the timeline!
2 million dollars would not save him because a) somebody else can spill the beans, b) Holderman&co can break promise about keeping silence. DL said things openly, because it will speed up the process of revealing the truth. Media likes the affairs which last as long as possible... they like to devour the victim in slow bites and it damages repytation more than quick storm.
This analysis is nonsense. A bit of rumpy pumpy never did anyone any harm. Dave Letterman will make a running joke of this and his show ratings will go up not down.
I just hope the blackmailer got to listen to the broadcast. He's been made to look a complete fool, as well as going to jail probably.
It's always risky having sex in and around the office - but - when you do the first rule is always have sex with a married woman. They will kiss but seldom tell. The second rule is to ensure the sex is purely recreational with no strings attached. Certainly better than crunches and can be a really good work out. I'm sure David was aware of these rules. He obviously forgot rule three - watch out for a set up - I suspect David was set up and is now paying the price. Remember sex is good.
You make some intelligent observations, but like a lot of other commentators, you come off as sanctimonious. You presume that you have the truth in your pocket and are thus in a good position to judge.
Everyone assumes that David initiated these sexual incidents. It's entirely possible that the women did. I certainly don't know if CBS has a 'no fraternization' policy. Do you know? Baring that they do, then it's entirely possible that he really actually did nothing wrong. I'm just a fan of supporting the policy of "innocent until proven guilty." As for "core principles"... that's personal. You're certainly entitled to yours, but to assume that everyone shares them with you is folly.
Although I applaud your eloquent vocabulary and command of the English language.... which is FAR above 97.3% of the usual YouTube videos, I must simply point out the sheer number of assumptions and leaps you (and most people) have made. First, at no point has it been said WHEN these 'affairs' happened. He's had a staff a lot longer than he's had a wife. Secondly, there has been no mention whatsoever that David pressured these women or used any quid pro quo tactics.
and you hide behind "Skippy" ... you are about as interesting as the dog you are named after....

Oh.... and last note.... Halderman isn't associated with the Late Show as you state. He's a producer for 48 Hours.
