A US Flag pin is a symbol, not a mere piece of jewelry. If he was elected as US President, his wearing the pin symbolizes his role, and the country he represents. The flag is insignia (symbol) worn proudly to represent the USA. If he forgot to wear it and learned that folks were upset by it, then wear it, and keep wearing it!! Geesh, so simple. Then show your patriotism to prove it by your actions. Peace
hey willymanet here's one for you then. What has Obama done for thiscountry. I know that you saw all his supporters stumped when asked this question they all said the same thing he is a great visionary and speaker. that's great he is but anyone can get up and be a great peaker and be a terrible person or leader. just look at Hitler. not that im comparing the two but too many of yall are blinded by his charisma that shadows his indicisveness and lack of experience.
@petrone413 Hey dont forget to get your white robes out of the closet and crosses and confederate flags so that you can look for a vacant lawn to singing "the south will rise again" and burn your crosses and dance with glee.
You are the one that have your "facts" all screwed up.
Point me to a single link where Obama said "flag pin is a symbol of false patriotism" There is none; those words were from you neocons...who made up alot of nonesenses to deceive the uninformed.
Your integrity is at stake if you do not reply this post with a link where Obama made those remarks.
He did not make that comment, that is your own interpretation and you are entitle to it.
If you care to do your research, he had been wearing the flag pin, he won after 911 for many years before deciding to stop wearing it.
His reason was that some people use it as a guise to true patriotism. He did not say it is a "symbol of false patriotism" that one is coming right from your mouth and heart.
@willymanet Well said indeed, it nice to see someone challenging these morons spreading deciet and lies in the internet and blantanly lie without batting an eye, is is absolutley disgusting. Unfortunately their are enough idiots ready to believe this at face value. Especially when it is racially motivated.
If I could win the election by never wearing a flag pin I would do it, and if I could win the election by wearing it all of the time I would do it; and if I could win the election by wearing it some of the time I would also do that. He is like Lincoln. Obama said about wearing a flag pin; "that became a substitute for I think true patriotism". So in essence Obama was saying that any one wearing a flag pin was not a true patriot. How does wearing a flag pin take your true patriotism away?
"I won't wear that pin", no, I will wear it if it is politically correct, lol, did you see all those flags behind him the other day? He can put his patriotism on and take it off whenever the situation arises. Did you see the new 10mil home the racist wright is moving into, a neighborhood full of rich whites no less. Hypocrites of the highest order.
I was there dude, it was a genuine moment by a real leader making a real show of leadership and respect to a disabled veteran. If you were there, you would have understood why he did it - he did it as a sign of solidarity with the plight of other guys like me who come back from Iraq, and are left to fight a second war. Their future Commander in Chief is behind them and others still serving who want change. Barack gets that.
dejuredc, thank you for your service & your intelligent comment. Obama didnt say he'd never again wear a flag pin, he just didnt like how it had come to be seen as blind support for govt policies, and had become a substitute for true patriotism which = loving your country & speaking up when you disagree with govt. In this case, this pin meant a lot coming from the disabled vet. I think dejuredc sums it up well.
We never used to require politicians to wear little symbols. What a fake issue.

He did it because he was put on the spot in front of cameras. If he didn't graciously put it on it would have been political suicide.
Even in today's debate he didn't say he was willing to wear a Flag Pin.

He'll do anything to kiss up. Looks like an audience planted prop item to me.
Didn't Obama say he would not put on a flag pin, but to tell the American people what will make this country great?
Flip flop again.
