Is that Belville near Cape Town? You mention airbrake only on the Class 14. Does the 3kv dc system (the substations) accept regenerative braking/do some electric locos on Spoornet regenerate?
Hi George my name is Stefan. I collect model trains SAR of course and do a little video when I get the chance. Look forward to some Kiwi trains. What is your rail gauge over there. Regards
Very nice video, George. I love SA - I bet you miss the place! Tell me - what is the power output of a class 14E, because this kind of train in NC would be hauled by 6x18E's, or 4x10E's!
I was offered a job with Spoornet last July (I drive trains in the UK), but I don't speak Afrikaans. My wife is teaching me though..! Biya dankie!
Hi Transkaroo.Yes i was a driver on the 35 class diesel locos in bellville South Africa until Toll New Zealand recruited us to work their freight trains here in Auckland where i am now based.I hope to put up some clips of the trains i work here in New Zealand both passenger and freight.

Anyone know how many coal cars those electric trains haul? What are they capable of?
