  • i cant even imagine playing steel. i have been playing guitar for 35 years and i flat pick. the thought of fingerpicking, watching pitch with the bar, and working footpedals is an amazing thing.

  • JO thanks for the info on the sound .jo i dont want to ware out my welcome so soon and be a thorn in your side but you are the best i have ever hurd . my question is can night be played on the E9 that a beginner like me could understand i can fake the melody but that kick off is impossible for me to get .O you must get 1000 of email so when you emailed me back I was so proud to be from the south ( NC) THANKS YOUR FRIND JIM B.

  • @JoeBarcus JOE sorry i did not explain my question so well .I had several things on my mind at that time. my question was if you had time would you post a video of the entro for night life by ray price( E9 tuning) or is that to hard for a student. If so i understand THANKS JIM.

  • JOE wished i had seen your videos befor i got all the bad habits.joe when i bought my steel guitar i ask a lot of steel players what to buy .the answer was american made all pull with all the floor peddles and knee i could get .used amp session 500 i called scotties got a double 10 DEKLEY can i get the sound on what i have .like you and a lot of guyes i see on you tube .the big laugh is i am 68 and still trying help joe THANKS YOUR FRIND JIM.

  • @country10001 Jim thanks for your comment the answer to your question is yes you can get the sound I dont have nothing fancy I use a nashville 400 and a boss dd-3 delay. funny thing is Im not always happy with my sound and a lot of other guys are that way as well but when we hear them we want that sound. so dont let that worry you to much im sure theres someone out there that will say they would like to have your sound as well.

  • Great tip about the tuner for slide, Im thinking of doing that for regular slide guitar.

  • Great Lesson and Tips Joe !! I've been looking for advice on just these topics. The basics of left and right hands and feet.

    Do you have a lesson on blocking? I guess it would be palm blocking as you mentioned. I'm trying to figure out which method will work best for me.

  • I recently got an old Dobro. Put new strings on it. Didn't know anything about playing it, but your suggestions on right and left hand techniques are superb. You answered a couple of questions that are not typically found in books. Thank you.

  • yeah seems these bad habbits are hard to break away from I still catch myself resting the arm as well. but I assure you that when you use your arm the right way the playing is better as well. Joe
