@sd31263 - not sure if you're challenging the date of this newscast, but if so - The NIssn has it correct. While Cronkite did in fact take over the CBS Evening News in 1962 (April 16, to be exact), the broadcast at that time, like all other network news broadcasts, was 15 minutes. It didn't expand to 30 minutes until September 2, 1963, one week prior to NBC expanding Huntley-Brinkley to the same length.
This is the very first half-hour edition of "The CBS Evening News with Walter Croknite," originally aired on September 2nd, 1963. John F. Kennedy, Sr. was shot and killed in Dallas, Texas on November 22nd, 1963.
Our society was so much classier back then....even with Civl Rights battles at home, we were a better society than the crass Britney/Kardashian inspired society of today.
