It's fun how the bass player f...cks up at the end -- when it goes back to Cm for the outro vamp he plays F for the first bar and then says "d'oh!" and plays C the next time.
I love how they just left it--
but no one really listens to the bass anyhow except other bass players (I'm one)
Hey! That's my theme song, because it is included on my own series of video game playthroughs which is the "4:00 Game". I should keep it as my official theme song for a video game series on YouTube.
Oh my goodness, I heard the remix of this song. The remix is no good in my opinion. If anybody wants to remix this piece? No drums beats over it, it will sound horrible. Keep the tempo or if you are going to change the tempo? Change it slightly, too much will ruin the song.
Thanks for posting this - I truly love it, it's got a feel that is hard to describe, but it makes me feel great! Puts a smile on my face, no matter what my day! :D
Reminiscent of Sam Spence's NFL Films themes... makes you feel like you're in that "other" Sixties/early Seventies - the one wealthy adults lived in. Beautiful.
@vince3617 I Read Neil Richardson and Ian Freebairn Smith(Original Openining Episode Music to Magnum P.I. Not the Mike Post version ) are old friends.
@mooglord - In this original "Prestige Production" incarnation, there's also an extra part (where the bridge was replayed with a guitar instead of flutes, woodwinds and violins), but it was cut out of the track as represented here. I actually heard that full version on a website pertaining to KPM library music.
@boswell69 You the man! Thank you so much for posting this! I wish I was born in the 60's,,,,,music of that era makes the heart melt and feel all cosy and cool! Thank you again
@themax316 Yes! I was born in '66 and this is the sort of music I grew up with... every movie and TV show's theme and bumper had that classic flourish you're referring to. This is my favorite piece of music, ever. Among my faves are the original "ABC Movie Of the Week", "(day of the week) Night Movie", "4:30 Movie" and other network intros.
I first heard this piece (short version) as the opening credits for the movie "Ocean's Thirteen" and have since fallen in love with it. Thanks for posting.
In this form, about 30 seconds (with the main melody and bridge repeated, albeit with a guitar instead of flutes/recorders playing the lead on the first part of the latter) were knocked off from this track in its original form - first called "Prestige Production," from the 1970 KPM album "Impact and Action, Vol. II." In any incarnation, this is still unforgettable.

I've always felt the same way. That initial "dum-dum" makes it sound exciting and serious.
I don't care for the part between :43 and 1:00... reminds me of Homer Simpson on one of his food fantasies. But the rest of it is great.
