I personally don't care for Cats at all! Lea has done the best Fantine I have ever seen. I saw her at Broadhurst Theatre with Drew Sarich as Jean Valjean and Adam Jacobs as Marius. As far as I am concerned, she does not need to prove anything to me.

It just sounds like she struggles a bit with the loud belting near the end.

This barely rehearsed number (she just got the role) was amazing, but the CCP performance was BRILLIANT!

It's nice to see her progression in performing this number --> from the time she had just been assigned the role (this video, after just a few practices with the musical director, and according to Lea, when she didn't have much confidence in doing it yet) to actually playing Grizabella on stage and OWNING it (check out the video clip one member of the audience took at the CCP)!

Her voice has such natural melody. It makes it so much more emotive...literally the end of this is spine chilling, I can almost beleive that she's upset herself.

For Chrissakes, this was a press launch last year, Lea hasn't even rehearsed the real thing yet. This was more like a concert version, almost impromptu (in the sense that it's not the authentic arrangement), not an actual clip from the musical. Yes it's not her best performance, but we shouldn't judge her yet as a lousy Grizabella. She has sung tougher songs and I'm pretty sure she'd sing this gloriously.

i beg to disagree with you that lea's version isnt good, in fact it is the best vocal so far ive heard. If she makes it unoriginal and just copied other artists' interpretation of the same song, it wouldnt be her song. What's good about Lea, she makes it to a point that even thousand interpretations of a certain song had been made, she makes it sure and actually does differ her own style and interpretation.

@joseph252007 i think we have a misunderstanding here. i've been a fan of lea as of my yesteryears and also for my everyday. i just thought that it wasn't that very very perfect, but i never said that it wasn't good. i just said, "it wasnt that VERY VERY GOOD", but it is infact good enough to move any audience so, i completely understand if you have been offended(as i am when others say lea is not good)... i just want to make clear that i am also a fan and no way will i say that she isn't good!!

....Thus, she owns every song she sings coz no one can ever even equal to the quality of a Lea's voice. Come and watch her actually perform on stage as Grizabella and judge her and not just a mini concert but Lea nailed it as she usually does in every performance.

@ 2.05 Grizabella drops to the ground and is dying,@ 2.15 jemima then sings reminds her that life is still worth living, @ 2.35 she rises to her feet and cries 'touch me' , i have seen many grizabells good and not so good, i can tell you this is a great vocal of memory . Lea will be amazing!
