This vid was posted in May of '07, they fixed this glitch the easy way but it's still possible. You have to empty a picked up weapon (i.e. boomshot or torque bow), and then go back on top of your lancer and press "B" and "X" at the same time. Your guy should be chainsawing nothing and then just switch to your pistol or any other weapon and walk into someone and they'll get chainsawed but won't die until you switch your weapon back to the lancer.
