HP IS SHIT. Their product support is crap too. Once when I had a problem they couldnt resolve they tried to get rid of me by claiming I had made racist remarks to them! Their colour profiles are never correct either and they were completely unhelpful with me in resolving that problem too. I since got an all in one C3180 and now that's gone wrong too, and I have to get it 'serviced' to get it working again! Advice: don't buy HP products if you don't want to get screwed. A real shyster company.
HP is shit....Don't ever buy their laptops...I've had the power jack go bad after 50 hr. of use and they wanted to charge me $400 to get it fixed...After looking online, a lot of their laptops have a history of having bad power jacks that get disconnected and stop working....this issue has been going on for years and still isn't resolved...Talk about shitty hardware...
First of all, I tip my hat to the soldiers who protect our rights (including free enterprise and freedom of speech). And I'm glad they have enough free time to relax and make videos like this one. I'm reassured that the soldier aiming the camera had a steady hand and perfect aim. The one with the rifle, however, fired 19 rounds at close range before he finally hit the printer. In time of combat, I hope he trades weapons with the cameraman. ;-)
I got no helpful support from HP on a $1,000 computer STILL UNDER WARRANTY. I spent months and $ on LD phone calls to no avail. They never fixed or replaced it. I got a $75 check a few years later from a class action suit. I had visions of taking it to corporate headquarters in Fort Collins , CO and throwing it into the front door.

Granted HP is a large company and employs a large amount of people. But being in the support business myself for over 15 years I know that overall, free support is a losing proposition. If they gave totally free support, they probably would barely break even. I can see giving a customer a few free customer service calls and then charging them. Every company I've worked for that's provided free support and refuse to charge thinking it's good customer service, has bankrupted itself.

The bullets the soldier used to shoot the printer cost more than the tech support would have to fix the issue. But what does he care, he didn't have to pay for them. 3. Use common sense, and not a plastic printer with exposed parts outside of its recommended operating environment. In other words, READ THE FUCKING MANUAL BEFORE COMPLAINING!

HP IS SHIT. Their product support is crap too. Once when I had a problem they couldnt resolve they tried to get rid of me by claiming I had made racist remarks to them! Their colour profiles are never correct either and they were completely unhelpful with me in resolving that problem too. I since got an all in one C3180 and now that's gone wrong too, and I have to get it 'serviced' to get it working again! Advice: don't buy HP products if you don't want to get screwed. A real shyster company.

HP is shit....Don't ever buy their laptops...I've had the power jack go bad after 50 hr. of use and they wanted to charge me $400 to get it fixed...After looking online, a lot of their laptops have a history of having bad power jacks that get disconnected and stop working....this issue has been going on for years and still isn't resolved...Talk about shitty hardware...

First of all, I tip my hat to the soldiers who protect our rights (including free enterprise and freedom of speech). And I'm glad they have enough free time to relax and make videos like this one. I'm reassured that the soldier aiming the camera had a steady hand and perfect aim. The one with the rifle, however, fired 19 rounds at close range before he finally hit the printer. In time of combat, I hope he trades weapons with the cameraman. ;-)

I got no helpful support from HP on a $1,000 computer STILL UNDER WARRANTY. I spent months and $ on LD phone calls to no avail. They never fixed or replaced it. I got a $75 check a few years later from a class action suit. I had visions of taking it to corporate headquarters in Fort Collins , CO and throwing it into the front door.

Granted HP is a large company and employs a large amount of people. But being in the support business myself for over 15 years I know that overall, free support is a losing proposition. If they gave totally free support, they probably would barely break even. I can see giving a customer a few free customer service calls and then charging them. Every company I've worked for that's provided free support and refuse to charge thinking it's good customer service, has bankrupted itself.

I never assumed the printer was government issue. In fact, I assumed he'd purchased it himself. If you know anything about basic customer service, you know that HP, as well as other companies, only charge for customer service provided to Voided Warrenty products. Many of them are young and straight out of high school and many of them didn't have proper role models or teachers, and they have no life experience. What happened was, HP got this video and caved, instantly. They contacted the Soldier, resolved his issue and started providing free tech support to anyone actively serving, regardless of if their product is out of date, INSTEAD of just saying "Pay the $40 or get a new one. You're not special." No matter how you cut it, this soldier recorded this video and sent it to HP. He expected a reaction and got exactly that. If Joe Schmoe has done this, they would have laughed at

While I don't deny that's among the possibilities as to what happened, I still take issue with the fact that you think he was actively using his status as a soldier to get free tech support and that this is the only possible explanation. I don't deny that some soldiers do what you describe, but your mind seems to be only on one track about it. Try looking at all angles. Also, Joe Schmoe wouldn't have a machine gun. Remember that personally owned firearms are perfectly legal.

Regardless of whether or not you are a soldier, the President of the United States, or WHO you are; they owe no one anything. First, all soldiers in the military today, ALL OF THEM, signed-up. Second, all soldiers are paid employees of the federal government. PAID for what they SIGNED-UP TO DO. They are adults, they chose their career. Let's look at couple of things. 1. The guy on the other end of the phone was just doing his job. He most likely doesn't have the say so to waive that fee. 2. The bullets the soldier used to shoot the printer cost more than the tech support would have to fix the issue. But what does he care, he didn't have to pay for them. 3. Use common sense, and not a plastic printer with exposed parts outside of its recommended operating environment. In other words, READ THE FUCKING MANUAL BEFORE COMPLAINING!
