If he didn't, he wouldn't have tried to bring his mother back or connect his brothers soul to a suit of armor, and he wouldn't have been so upset when Nina or Hughs died. Vic Mignogna is actually quite a spiritual person in real life, hence the religious meaning of the song. It's ironic, since Ed is more agnostic/atheistic. =D
