Don't let customers speak to employees in this manner. Tell them to immediately explain they cannot continue the conversation if they can't speak in professional manner. If the customer continues to act up, they can hang up without having any fear of reprisal.

Used to own several Dell PCs. When the keyboard failed on one of our PC units, it took 19 calls and about 9 hours on the phone Dell verifying the ownership of the computer. All they had to do was issue call tag or send in home service person as outlined in their warranty documents, and it would have been done. Instead they spend 9 hours on BS. At the end they lost our business, and had to take all our PCs back and issue full refund. DELL service is the wosre.
You fuckin assholes, just know how to shout on other pople. You know what your problems are. You cannot see other countries growing. You are JEALOUS. I have seen people pretending not to understand even if the support person can be understood clearly. When someone denies a service you look for a supervisor or someone in your region. Please understand that the policies are not created by our own. Its manged by the Head office in US. If you are not happy about something contact them.

I work in customer service and people call for really stupid things... RTFM!! I don't know what people think that we as customer service can do. I mean, we are not god or something, it's just a guy miles away or thousands of miles away that doesn't even know how the problem looks like xDDD!! People call just to know how to press a button, and we have to imagine what todo just with a picture...
I can relate to the poor phone rep here. I've worked in phone centers for years and I've had to deal with jerks like this all the time. The rep is just doing what their managers told them to do so they can get a paycheck and pay the rent. It's as simple as that. Employees have to put up with this year after year from customers until they finally snap! And you know what happens when people snap.

i understand that Dell has a bad customer service (even HP, by the way) but that customer is the bad guy in this scenario. the Dell representative needs to verify the owner that's why he was asking all those questions, not because he was a "fucking asshole." the rep was just doing his job; it is not his fault.
The customer is a real asshole as he does not know how to switch off his laptop. The support person was kind enough to listen to all his bullshits. Dell has one of the best customer services. If there is something which need to be changed, its the support policy which will enable to tech to help the customer with minimal info.
That's funny at the end because instead of thanking the guy for resolving his issue, he goes off at him for apparently being an asshole and "Not freaking helpful". Costumers like these make me feel like common sense is after all, not so common.

The call started going bad when the techsupport rep asked for the Express Service Code. WILDKCAT, i'm sorry what comments are you reading sir? Because the techsupport rep followed the policies and procedures needed by the Quality Analyst and people running the call center. I agree that the rep could have just told the customer to press and hold the power button for 3 seconds but that sir is considered as a troubleshooting step.
All Troubleshooting steps are required by QA and the people running the call center to be logged and is also for the customers' convenience if they need to call again for technical assistance.

No call to go all crazy, but the customer does have a valid point: If it's just a general question like, "How do I shut this darn thing off," the rep did *not* need all of the info. He did not need to verify anything. He knew how to shut it down, he should have just said how to shut it down. I typically hate calling any CS because they follow a script and don't use their brains.

@themangodess hmm but he assured the idot cutomer that he will help him... and moreover collecting info is also necessary to know which model is the idiot customer taking about... some laptop model have the power button on the side right to the hinges or have it on the hinge cover.. just imagine that you press the wrong button (or combination)and the laptop is reset to the factory setting... ur data (pics, documents etc) gone for a toss

I work in customer service and people call for really stupid things... RTFM!! I don't know what people think that we as customer service can do. I mean, we are not god or something, it's just a guy miles away or thousands of miles away that doesn't even know how the problem looks like xDDD!! I can relate to the poor phone rep here. I've worked in phone centers for years and I've had to deal with jerks like this all the time. The rep is just doing what their managers told them to do so they can get a paycheck and pay the rent. It's as simple as that. Employees have to put up with this year after year from customers until they finally snap! And you know what happens when people snap.

i understand that Dell has a bad customer service (even HP, by the way) but that customer is the bad guy in this scenario. the Dell representative needs to verify the owner that's why he was asking all those questions, not because he was a "fucking asshole." the rep was just doing his job; it is not his fault.

The customer is a real asshole as he does not know how to switch off his laptop. The support person was kind enough to listen to all his bullshits. Dell has one of the best customer services. If there is something which need to be changed, its the support policy which will enable to tech to help the customer with minimal info.

The call started going bad when the techsupport rep asked for the Express Service Code. WILDKCAT, i'm sorry what comments are you reading sir? Because the techsupport rep followed the policies and procedures needed by the Quality Analyst and people running the call center. I agree that the rep could have just told the customer to press and hold the power button for 3 seconds but that sir is considered as a troubleshooting step.

My experience with dell
I order a laptop XPS studio on March this year
In May after a lot of calls asking what happened they send to me an ordinary email saying that is lost in the send. (a problem of Send department)
That I have 2 options, they can send it again or return my money.
I didn want to wait another month so I ask for the money (but it will take 48 days)
However they charge the 3 monthly quotas from my credit card.
Now in August Im still waiting for my money. Support number useless.

I can't believe there are people out there that think the customer was justified in acting like that.
He complained about the IVR, and then complained even more when he was actually talking to a real person which is what he claimed he wanted in the first place.
Plus, a simple look at the manual would have shown how to turn the computer off.
Car dealerships aren't expected to teach the customer how to drive, I don't get why PC OEM's are expected to teach the customer things like this.

No call to go all crazy, but the customer does have a valid point: If it's just a general question like, "How do I shut this darn thing off," the rep did *not* need all of the info. He did not need to verify anything. He knew how to shut it down, he should have just said how to shut it down. I typically hate calling any CS because they follow a script and don't use their brains.
