This is not the Squier Black & Chrome Strat, but the FENDER Big Block Strat. Although they look similar (only because of the pickguard, really) they are two very different guitars in terms of hardware and craftsmanship.

I'm pretty much self taught... [if a friend teaching me counts] but practicing with tabs and trying which one sounds best works... I'm not that great either... but I learn from watching other covers to see the strumming patterns and looking to see which tabs work best... idk how well that would work for you, but it's pretty helpful for me =)

2. Rhythm guitar plays chords in the chorus. Lead guitar plays octaves. I chose to play lead.

It's pretty simple to use once you've installed the software. I'd recommend it, and if you have any problems, PM me and I'll be glad to answer your questions.

I also recommend though, if you have a good amp, the Shure SM58 (or 57, I forget) microphone. This is a high quality amp used for recording instruments and sometimes voice, and if you have a camera or computer that's compatible with it, it's very good and versatile as well.

You just gotta have a good ear I guess. I usually get tabs when I'm lazy, but 9/10 times they are not perfect, so I always edit them myself by listening to the song in comparison to the tab. It was easier for me because even though I'm self-taught on guitar, I have played music since I was 5.

Well when my dad helps me with some tabs , i just play him the song on guitar from the tabs then i play him the acutal song on the PC and he can adjust how to play it on guitar. Hes played music for a long time too.
