I haven't been using a registry cleaner for 4 years. Before that, made no difference to my computer. Once I tried out what the results would be like after formatting and clean installing. Surprise surprise ccleaner found errors. That was the moment I ditched them.
CCleaner wont acculy make your PC faster, its for maintence and making programs faster, but if u have much registery fails, like i had 1349 then it should make your pc faster (what happend to me :)
@qwertyman8000 - CCleaner was the last registry cleaner I used before swearing off. I think it was just a habit - I never noticed any particular improvement in performance. So why take the chance?
@prof611 you can trust ccleaner. you gotta know what you need it for though. run it after browsing a lot of websites and uninstalling lots of programs to get rid of temporary files and useless registry files. Ive been using ccleaner for a long time with no problems. sometimes it will clear up to a GB of temporary files. I know its not a scam because i have done that myself before but ccleaner makes it easier
@ShaimVerse - I used to use Registry Mechanic too. But did it actually make my computer run faster? I don't know. But now I'm no longer willing to take a chance on something that may or may not help. After what happened to me when I tried Registry Easy , I am never going to take another chance on using a registry cleaner again. It's just not worth it.
@ShaimVerse I'm not quite clear on what you want to do. There isn't any "default registry". But if you want to go back to a previous version of your registry, there are two possibilities. If either you or whatever reg cleaner you used made a copy of the registry, then you can just use that. Or you could use System Restore to go back to the registry as it was before you did whatever you did.
