It's been many years but I lived just south of here and remember riding the redbirds with my parents many a time. Always enjoyed it. I'm glad that these newer cars have a body style that slightly resembles the redbirds.
@beatlesrockband2010 Why is it that the R62 trains stopped running on the 6 line? I remember when I was a kid the 6 line used to have R33 or R36 Redbird trains and R62 trains. The Redbirds were retired in November of 2003. But why is it that the 6 line only use R142A's now?
@azar7834 The R62s are getting up in age as things don't last as long as they used to. Those tough Redbirds, even with their problems lasted about 50 years, which shows what America used to be and could build. The R62s came into service late 80s-early 90s, making them "20-something" years old. With the increasing cost of maintenance and maintaining a parts inventory for the R62s, they will be eventually be retired. The newer cars use less energy, are quieter, and are "supposedly" more reliable.
@abcsmoshed Graffiti ART is a good thing, graffiti VANDALISM is a bad thing, no one does it artistically like they used to, look at the old videos of the Bronx. I like the "art", I hate the "hobby".
LOL, I used to hop the wall over there and walk along the tracks to whitlock ave. That's because there was always a cop at the hunts point train and I couldn't hop.
This used to be my line.......and I hated it. Worst f'ing thing in the system. The MTA morons playing train at Parkchester holding every Pelham bound train on the express track for lineups are a bunch of retards. What a great idea to sit back and watch two local trains head up the middle track for the next 10 minutes when you're in a f'ing rush to get home. God forbid you get caught at 6pm on a local between Hunts Point and Parkchester.
Tell me about it man........that is like 3 to 4 trains trying to get into Parkchester. Four stops becomes a 1/2 hour or more trip. They should play train at Hunts Point. At least there you have switches in both directions. You'd have to ride that POS to see exactly wtf I am talking about.

@azar7834 the r62a on the 6 had to go to the 7 to replace the redbirds thats why the 6 is r142a
