Just the composition of this song reveals the genius of Cantrell. He is an underrated genius which is good imo, it gives him a stronger a distinguished presence.
There are so many allusions to Layne, post-death. It has brought out the best in Jerry Cantrell. While Layne was a great vocalist, he brought out the best in JC. Even Jerry says that Layne really brought out his vocal side. I saw them as an opening act for Aerosmith in the early 90s. They were excellent! I really like JCs vocals on Black Gives Way to Blue...much like his solo stuff. Excellent vocals! While I can't say that JC's guitar solos are "shredding", they are emotive, and I like that.
I agree, He must be the most underated artist there is. The man was alice in chains and kicked ass there, his solos are so deep. Now he's back with aic, R.I.P. Layne Staley, and Mike Starr
This has to be the most underrated album of all time. I remember hearing a preview of it in a cd store (what are those? lol) before it came out and it gave me chills then..
Love you Jerry and thanks for your music, it's a miracle, just a miracle that guy like you exist!
thanks god!

@puszat19 The comment is more oriented toward the state in music, and not so about the life itself.
