  • I want Reggie's bass!

  • Killin'!

  • I keep replaying 2:10-2:15. I can't figure out how he pops the strings in such quick succession......

  • @voncoolio it's a mix of hammer ons, double thumb technique, and plucks with the index and middle fingers. Once you get the technique down, it looks harder than it really is. It helps to keep things "circular" if that makes any sense....

double thumbing can be tricky though.... think of your thumb like a pick.

  • The monstrous length of Reggie's thumb!

  • Gracious... has anyone ever seen Reggie and Marcus Miller at the same time?! I swear the tone, technique, and feel are exactly the same. Otiel jams. :)

  • Reggies' Tace Elliott is sounding delicious!!!

  • Oh shit! that was nasty

  • love it. thank you for the post.

  • man, whats the best way to learn to play this sorta stuff, teaching myself is hard

  • @price22232

gotta start way further down the line, get your technique up with lame exercises, starting slow en keep playing them faster. i'm a first years student at a conservatory in Holland. everybody is telling me that's the only way to get to the crazy stuff.

  • @HammondB200

    What lame exercises?

can you give me some examples?

  • @lemontree27013

Play scales or one phrase (if you play a stringinstrument think in geometrical figures) to a clicktrack in all keys, starting at 60 bpm, play in quarternotes followed by eighthnotes, than in shuffle, than in truplets, than at 70 bpm. Constantly faster. Do this efficient: do NOT study what you already master. Do not play what you like to play in between the exercises. Rather do something that isn't about music. The exercises must serve a technical use in the first place.

  • @lemontree27013 they may seem lame, but they will TRULY BUILD your technique.

  • @HammondB200 Holland, eh? (evil grin)

  • @rbass311

    is this hate i smell?

who is the guy with the red jazz bass ,he has a nice grooove
