I agree that the judging at the 2008 Olympics gymmastics competition sucked.... Not saying this is the first or worst time, but it was definitely skewed. The problem with Shawn's routine is that she's never been technically correct with her splits (and it becomes a problem on floor), and she took a step on the dismount. Her chest is not that low and if you compare it to Shannon Miller back in '96. She had some low ones and I'm a huge Miller fan.

@azuritefire5 that was her bending her knees embracing the landing.. she lands it pretty staright up she always did becasue she got a lot of power and she seemed to have a better techniche. But her chest wasn't DOWN. thats over exaterating
She is pretty good, but she did land with her chest so closed to the beam, and she did it like 5 times, the full spin must be full 360. But she does it like 300 and she immediately closes it. Still very good routine.
A lot of people forget that it is called artistic gymnastics. Shawn didn't have any wobbles, but she doesn't hit her splits and her choreo is really robotic. Not to mention the deep landings. It was a great routine and she deserved the score.

I would have the following deduction: 0.1 deep landing on full twisting tuck 0.1 lack of flexibility on switch ring jump 0.1 lack of flexibility on jump with 1/4 turn 0.1 lack of flexibility on split jump 0.1 legs separate on back tuck 0.1 deep landing on dismount 0.1 step on dismount A: 6.900 B: 9.300 Score: 16.200 IMO this routine was even better that the one she did in EF.

They didn't let anything slide on beam in prelims but they were loose everywhere else, this was her best beam performance of the games!
