Yes the suit is funny. Great stretch that I do just a bit differently. Try the same leg positions but sit with your bum close to a wall and have one leg straight up the wall (heel on wall) and cross the 2nd leg over the knee of 1st leg (as he does in video). Now slowly bend the straightened leg at the knee until you feel the stretch in the bum. I prefer this way as you don't use your arms and therefore you can stay in this position a long time. I'll try to post a video of what I mean.

this is what chiropractors are taught in school to try to get your wallet to fall out of your back pocket so they can take everything you have. In my state NC they were even found tampering with the state legislature to have them not allow Physical Therapists to practice because they did not want teh competition!!!

My question is: is the object to simply get as much hip flexion as possible while in that postion, or is the focus on the internal rotation of the leg (picture trying to put your foot behind your head - which some people can actually do) ?

Sometimes sitting for long periods of time at my computer stiffens my piriformis. Once I did this stretch, it helped loosen it.

Good job, here is a little lesson on ElasticSteel research.
1. Back and glutes must be stretched first, or you won't get to piriformis.
2.For most people, horizontal adduction is needed to actually hit piriformis.
Otherwise cool video.
