Motor neuron diseases such as ALS are progressive chronic diseases of the nerves that come from the spinal cord and supply electrical stimulation to the muscles. This stimulation is necessary for the movement of body parts.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is quite a mouthful. The disease is therefore usually referred to simply as ALS or in North America as Lou Gehrig's disease after the great baseball player who died of it.
I watched this movie today at school. The father of a friend of mine has ALS. The documentary itself is very though and sad. It has it's funny and sad moments, but anyway it filled me up with hope. I totally recommend it.
Thats my cuzin and i loved him. he was like my older brother. and i cant belive he is gone. i hope alex grows up to be as great a man he was. I love u stephen and rest in peace.
i saw this documentry 6 days ago. it was so strong. i was always into awareness and donating for ALS, but this really shook me up. it was a tough movie to watch, but a very educating movie as well.
my mom has als, and i can honestly say this movie is one of the best resources for me while i was still learning about her disease.

I know Stephen and James and the Heywood family. I used to work for the foundation. Stephen was a true hero.

I'd really love to see this whole movie sometime, but I live in Canada and it doesn't seem to show up here. I wish they would put it out on dvd.
