I miss this Doctor who era with Christopher Eccleston and David tennent it was really exciting and enjoyable to watch, now however the show has become complete rubbish but i like Matt smith and i think he is a good doctor but its moffat that i cant stand and in my opinion he is ruining Doctor who :(
Say what you like but Christopher Eccleston was my favourite Doctor and his regeneration and theme were fantastic and this regeneration really made me sad yet happy at the same time, it seemed as if he was happy and welcomed change but I would loved to have seen him in another series, he's the Doctor I've become the most emotionally involved with :)
Does anyone know if the music from 0:55 to 1:25 has a name? Doesn't it turn up in other Satellite 5 scenes? And yet it isn't on the official soundtrack.

See, when the doctor regenerates, they just gain a new face, voice, taste change, allergies, basically their overall DNA form and personality quirks. The first (9th) doctor "died'' because he had to save rose by removing the vortex from her. That "killed'' him, causing the regeneration. In the second season, the second (10th) doctor takes over. But you must understand that all doctors, even after regeneration, still have all the memories of all the previous doctors before them.

i do think its partially the tardis talking through rose, i think this because of the lot of episodes that just ended with the one particular episode where the tardis is put into a living body and calls him my doctor as rose does in this, but it is rose talking here too. Thats just my thought on that scene :)

@BandNerd06Forever Actually the reason why he was only on for 1 year wasn't for lack of faith or contractual reasons. It was because he was never really comfortable with the television/serial style and pace for production being as he was more accustomed to doing things on the big screen. So when time came for renewing contracts he opted out rather than continuing to give the audience what he personally felt was less than his best. This nearly makes me cry every time I watch it. Eccleston was my favourite Doctor and this goodbye was such a good way to end his role and honestly he brought a scary madness side to the Doctor that made the show a treat to watch, I didn't like David Tennant's goodbye where they made it as if he didn't want to leave and it seemed very much unlike his Doctor. But yeah Eccleston was as he'd put it fantastic and deserved another Series had he wanted to do one
eccleston - an amzing actor, and really surprisingly doctorish, really really doctory, even while he was northern, no one expected him to be that good. just pure brilliance, i wish he stayed for longer.
tennant- was amazing, and then rose went and he just got shit.
smith- wow, i didn't expect that, eccentricity, oddness, funniness, young but yet the oldest doctor we've ever seen, his movements and portrayal is unlike anything i've ever seen from a young actor. smith and eccleston are the best.

I don't usually like main female charactors, especially if they are blonde and look like pop tarts - but i LOVE LOVE LOVE Rose Tyler. She's perfect - especially for the Doctor. Their relationship is easy for me to relate to because my best friend is alot like Dr. Who. I'd risk my life time and time again to save him from death. And he is like my Dr...And I want him safe. My Doctor :)
And you know Jack will be ok and back (regardless of if youve seen the following episodes) because Why would the writers have Rose bring him back to life and then leave him there? if they wanted him gone they would have left him dead.

The first episode I ever saw of Doctor Who had Tennant playing the Doctor, but I came back and started from the beginning (of the new Doctor Who) even though Tennant was the first Doctor I ever saw, Eccleston's was the first whole series I saw. I love Tennant and Matt Smith seems pretty cool so far, but Eccleston holds a special place in my heart. I can't choose between the two of them!
@pirate505218 tennant was really good and fun, but he just got annoying and depressing when rose left. and he became really annoying when his floppy hair went sticky uppy and when his brown suit went blue. smith and eccleston are amazing though, but yet again who knows? matt smith might just become awful and annoying when amy leaves, but i doubt it, because matt isnt as devoted to amy as tennant was to rose.

well, technically, I've generally seen the new series referred to as series while classic who is referred to as seasons, so to that end, this is the 'first series'.
one comment, 9 kissed rose to save her life, it makes me wonder why 10 didnt do the same for donna (and yes i am a doctor/donna shipper dont bag me for it) but i think 9 loved rose and 10 sort of did but i really think he loved donna, i cried more in journey's end than doomsday. anyway, thats just my thought, love this ep and thankyou soo much for posting these now we just have to wait till x-mas to see the next doctor who. thanks again :P
@IluvHarryPottermost I never did get the Doctor/Donna shippers I always like the fact they were just plain old friends nothing romantic or shippy. Then again this wouldn't have worked with Donna anyway since Rose had taken an external force which was not part of her thus enabling it to be removed. While Donna's changes was internal it had become a part of her. The way I always saw it was that 10 had blocked/erased it, which is basicly like hitting a reset switch on Donna's brain.
Anybody else wondering why taking in the time vortex for that short amount of time caused the Doctor to regenerate, while Rose who had it much longer only fainted and suffered a little memory loss?
I think Rose was about to die when the doctor absorbed it from her - no real way to tell how long it was inside the doctor - there was a cut scene mixed in there.

at the time, when I watched this I thought nothing of the kiss. He's only absorbing the time vortex so I was like...hm. It means nothing.
I preferred them as friends tbh but yeah <3

I think christopher eccleston DID have a certain charm, despite what people say, but yes, Tenant will always be the boss.

The first episode I ever saw of Doctor Who had Tennant playing the Doctor, but I came back and started from the beginning (of the new Doctor Who) even though Tennant was the first Doctor I ever saw, Eccleston's was the first whole series I saw. I love Tennant and Matt Smith seems pretty cool so far, but Eccleston holds a special place in my heart. I can't choose between the two of them!

christopher eccleston introduced me to doctor who so he will always have a place in my heart. i cried when i saw this.
david tennant was the one who had rose ripped from him in the age of steal. i mourned for a week after that show. he is MY doctor.
matt smith is alright but i was devastated when david left.

David Tennant-You were a legend. Quite possible the best doctor after Tom Baker.

@pirate505218 tennant was really good and fun, but he just got annoying and depressing when rose left. and he became really annoying when his floppy hair went sticky uppy and when his brown suit went blue. smith and eccleston are amazing though, but yet again who knows? matt smith might just become awful and annoying when amy leaves, but i doubt it, because matt isnt as devoted to amy as tennant was to rose.

@Kahvi you actually liked eccleston,other than tom baker ,david tennant is the only other doctor worth watching,eccleston is so dryand ugly,he might as well be related to nick tilsley off coronation street hes so ugly and it justamazes me howanyone strted watching doctor who again with him in the role.you must be deaf and blind if you enjoy eccleston,and as for the new geeky matt smith,well shoot him in the head isall that needs said there really.series 2 of doctor who is best series on tv ever

this isnt the first series. the doctors been around for a long time. y do u think hes on regen. number 11. but i absolutely loved roses lines in this ep. "you are tiny" its so cool how they made her talk. LOVED it.

well, technically, I've generally seen the new series referred to as series while classic who is referred to as seasons, so to that end, this is the 'first series'.

one comment, 9 kissed rose to save her life, it makes me wonder why 10 didnt do the same for donna (and yes i am a doctor/donna shipper dont bag me for it) but i think 9 loved rose and 10 sort of did but i really think he loved donna, i cried more in journey's end than doomsday. anyway, thats just my thought, love this ep and thankyou soo much for posting these now we just have to wait till x-mas to see the next doctor who. thanks again :P

@IluvHarryPottermost I never did get the Doctor/Donna shippers I always like the fact they were just plain old friends nothing romantic or shippy. Then again this wouldn't have worked with Donna anyway since Rose had taken an external force which was not part of her thus enabling it to be removed. While Donna's changes was internal it had become a part of her. The way I always saw it was that 10 had blocked/erased it, which is basicly like hitting a reset switch on Donna's brain.

Anybody else wondering why taking in the time vortex for that short amount of time caused the Doctor to regenerate, while Rose who had it much longer only fainted and suffered a little memory loss?

I think Rose was about to die when the doctor absorbed it from her - no real way to tell how long it was inside the doctor - there was a cut scene mixed in there.
