@nommo4life Lol! I read this post last. yes!!! I still have that hair in a bag in my closet!lol Gross, but I can't seem to throw it out yet. Maybe when my hair reaches my goal length I'll be able to get rid of it. Thanks for watching! Peace:)
I interlock my hair do you think its possible for me to take them down as well, I'm not sure but I think sisterlocs are retightened in a similiar way. Let me know what you think.
@TheSkyhazFallen I would think so. Interlocking and SLs are very similar since its basically rotating of the hair. If you try it just be gentle, use a small tool and conditioner if needed. Thanks for watching.
I had natural free flowing hair for 15 years (mostly pressed) then switch to relaxer. (FYI my hair is super thick - 4c) It was too much for me, sisterlock was the answer for me.
You should try using conditioner. THat's how my Sisterlock Consultant took down my test locks. I also used conditioner when I had to take down a few a redo them.
Thats understandable but let me ask you...I'm thinking about locking my daughter and yes she's only two. Being that you can take them out makes me want to go ahead and do it even more although I know it wouldnt be easy but I love my locs and want her to experience hair freedom. What do you think as I'm gathering everyones opinions
@sistalocnbballn 100% yes if you feel you won't be able to do the weekly braiding and styling her natural hair. Sisterlocks will be the best move, I have to say even if you can style it! You will be making an "investment" so to speak in her healthy, natural hair future. She will learn to love her hair. The bonus is that she can take them out if she gets older and decides she wants to unlock. Did you see my crazy hair at 12 in my journey vid!lol Don't do that to her!lol
So when you got locks had you planned on taking them out one day? I guess I should ask how old were you when you got them in? I've been locked for 31/2 yrs now and don't plan on ever taking them out but I went in with a permanent mindset so thats why i may not fully understand not to say I don't respect your decision. It doesent bother me just curious
@sistalocnbballn I too was just like u when I first got my locs. I NEVER thought I would have a desire to unlock. The reason I chose to lock was so that I could have a style that would make it easier to "deal with" my naturally kinky hair. Sister locs was definitely the best choice to serve that purpose. But the fact of the matter is that I have not experienced the joy of styling and growing out my free flowing natural hair. So this is an important part of my natural journey I don't want to miss
YOUR LOCKS ARE PRETTY. I'M GLAD YOU ENJOYED YOUR JOURNEY.... BUTTTTTT YOU ARE CRAZYYYYYYYYYYYYY.... THAT IS TO MUCH HAIR TO BE PICKING OUT...... LOL!!!!!!!! I'VE BEEN LOCKED 3 AND A HALF YEARS. :-)
@LadyLove2Love LOL!! I know! I had like 649 locks! But honestly I can't see myself still retightening my hair at 50 and 60. I want to grow my hair waist length before the grays start coming in.
@LadyLove2Love Thanks for asking! Its going well, slow, but well between all the other things I'm doing. Aiming to be finished by May at the latest, must be done before summer hits!lol
@nubian05girl It's funny that when you put the retightening efforts in perspective with the aging proces. I've been locked for close to 6 months now, and they are still soft and curly, but I had traditional locks over 16 years ago, and I remember sitting at home with a needle to remove what was likely less than 100 locks in my early 20s. I was home with a baby, so it took a week to do. I can't imagine taking out sisterlocks. Best of luck!
I just wanted to wish you well in your loose natural hair journey. it's been about 6 months since i combed out my SLs so i understand where you're coming from. good luck with all
I am taking my sisterlocks out as well....For the exact same reason as you...I loved my SL for 2 years however I need a change....I have been using a push pin and it is tearing my thumbs ups...lol...I am going to go to the supply store and get the weave sew in needle...Thanks for sharing
Love the video!! I'm glad I saw this before I cut my hair off cuz I'm just so done with my sisterlocks. Thx for posting!!
