I had great teachers on top of it all too. I believe that though never perfect, the government can help us out. Schools, public transportation, why not medicine. Hawaii's got it, Europes got it, some work better than others but fact is there is way to make it work. My town always votes for more taxes for schools specifically.

Today more than anytime we are being pacified and lied to through the media. Change won't come from watching the news. Well, you could either continue making ignorant remarks, or you could contemplate that opinions don't have linear, horizontal counterparts. Yes, RATM and SOAD are far left, though the pros and cons of the right extremists' ideas are not flipped, like you indirectly insinuate. I'd rather call the relation between Serj's and Tom's message and protest against the far right vertical, with plus on one side and minus on the other.

Really, it's all about equality. Socialism means equal rights for everybody, regardless of how rich you are, what color your skin is or what country you are born in. If that is not the one thing worth fighting for, then I don't know what.

Ouch. No. That's not at all what socialism is about. I consider myself a socialist and I am strictly against opression of people by people. I believe in democracy.
Socialism means a society without capitalists, the rich people who live the good life on the costs of exploited workers in the third world. It means producing the products we need, because we need them and not because someone wants to make money.
The whole thought doesn't fit in this one comment, but honestly, read it up.

American Public Schools. I grew up in public school and had wonderfull teachers and read wonderful books and it was ALL free. Socialism.

like i said before if we had true capitalism we wouldnt need the government to take care of us like children. public shcools, roads, infrastructure, military, police, etc. the governemnt can provide services such as above without being socialist. the difference between u and me is i think i can spend my money better than the government can spend it for me, u dont.

Yes... I know. This is what I am saying. Now you are getting it. Taxes aren't just a way to throw your money away, it is for common benefit. I support them because I loved my school and my teachers. They improved my life so much so I am happy to pay for it, that's something worth spending money on.
I really believe that. Taxes may feel like a pain, but if it means that a kid who would have otherwise been worthless gets a shot then let's do it.
Socialism has it's benefits.

Zappa said it best take your kids out of scholl so they can learn something.I f you think our taxes are really used for this, they are used to buy weapons of destruction. This was all implemented a long time ago and the goals were not meant to be acheived over night but over generations. Nothing we do benefits us.

Listen, there's no way I can convey to you in a paragraph how public school was good for me and how much I learned(albeit usually not in the textbooks).
I had great teachers on top of it all too. I believe that though never perfect, the government can help us out. Schools, public transportation, why not medicine. Hawaii's got it, Europes got it, some work better than others but fact is there is way to make it work. My town always votes for more taxes for schools specifically.

More important than who's president is increased self-governance. That's really the idea behind democracy, anyway. It works from you up, not from the president down - if you know what I mean. A lot of matters are/can be decided regionally, not federally and that's why we do have a large government. U can't just vote Obama and walk away, feeling like these things will be taken care of. That's the point of what Morello is saying. You've gotta own it & stand up for what U want.. or U won't get it.

Amazing....Tom always struck me as an intelligent guy...Serj's music indicated that he was as well,but this interview gave more depth(for lack of a better word) to him as a person...I am totally in love with Henry Rollins...his intellect is just sexy as hell lol! He just seems like such an awesome guy to be around and he conducted a great interview! Yay for all three!
