@eve125851 I think you lack the civilized attitude to respect a cultural event. It's Krampsulauf, kind of like a Winter Mardi Gras. The kids love it too. My friend takes his kid to Marvel Superhero Island(Island of Adventure) @ Disneyworld, and he is scared of the people dressed up as Superheroes more than this stuff.

I'd guess the timing of this festival predates Christianity by centuries, so that's why they're still holding it at this time of year. Critters like these aren't nearly as creepy on bright, sunlit days as they are when the days shorten and the temperature drops.
