  • hey geoff im doing the same project with the exact same engine and i was wondering if you took off the round thing that looks like a clutch

  • @MattAUS1997 Not Quite sure what you mean but i didnt use a clutch.

  • I'm making one with a stihl weedeater, works pretty well, just really, really loud as the exhuast muffler has no baffles, so it's just a straight pipe.

  • DAYAMNNNNNNN

  • i am using a smaller engine. homelite weedwacker. comercial weedwacker tho. its big enough. its almost done. but i want to experiment with a mountainbike system. so that maybe i can give my motorbike a 'transmission' if you understand what i mean. anyone ever seen that done or have tips on where i could check up on the idea? would just b cool to be able to run high speeds but also b able to downshift to get up hills.

  • @evillemaniac92 Tzi scooterworld should help. Iv never seen a mountain bike design before.

  • how big is that engine ur using?

  • @fishnfreak18 about 30cc

  • @geoff390 ok thanks man.thats a nice build u made good job

  • haha it's basically like a ghetto ktm 50. 2-stroke power!

  • thats pretty good there!!!!

  • haha perfect

  • Shit, that's running well.

  • Does the spindle slip?

  • it did but i made another which had barely any slippage

  • so if i put a rubber pipe cap on the clutch do u think it will slip

  • Dont quite understand.

  • You should use something larger on the chainsaw motor for some more speed... it looks like you've already got plenty of torque based on how fast you accelerated there.

  • could you use a bike peg for the spindle? or do it as a chain transmission and whats the cc, im thinkin of a 52cc chainsaw. plss reply,

  • Yes many people use bike pegs. Chain trans are harder to set up but with a 52cc chainsaw you would have plenty of grunt.

  • @geoff390 and a shitload of slippage

  • @shinyfuzzy With the new spindle there was almost no slippage.

  • @geoff390 i was talking to another guy that said he was gonna use a 55cc chainsaw i think but that would eat the tire in like 2 minutes

  • @shinyfuzzy Ahk yea 55cc would be too powerfull hed want a bigger spindle than 1inch.

  • @shinyfuzzy i have a 49 cc chainsaw spindle drive scooter well 48,8cc but the second i got it built it snowed it seemes powerfull and does not eat the tire

  • @davison1021 with a good spindle you should have a tire last quite a while/

  • you copped this video noob

  • can i happen to buy one off you for like 800 bucks

  • you could buy or find all the pieces for less than that!

  • u might as well go find a cheap pit bike or somethin

  • LOL - so if you run out of petrol, you can just cycle to the nearest petrol station!!

  • Well its a 2stroke so id go home but that was the idea

  • hahaha

  • nice one, that looks well fun and it looked like you were hossing it a fair bit too!

  • i was answering josephmalta95 Question about his scooter not yours geoff.

  • oh ok.

  • it should have enough power if you got the right ratio.

  • it had pletty of power.

  • hey...i am mounting a 33cc motor on my scooter with a chain drive already installed...will it have enough power for a hill to climb? pls help

  • mke a video and show how to make that same on becase that shit is bad ass dude.

  • there is look in my account for a video "chainsaw bike tips"

  • nice, maybe i should put a chainsaw motor on my minibike, or not, its fast enough the way it is

  • If its fast enough dont bother about it. theres too much hassle involved if its not nessessary.

  • Hey man thats sick as, I think you should visit me in Canberra sometime :P. I have a Yamaha Banshee 350 2-stroke engine and i don't know what to do with it. I also have a Raptor 350 so i can ride with ya :P. Have a good 1 mate.

  • weed eater

  • Mcculloch promac 320.

  • sorry but I'm german and have no idea what a whipper snipper is

  • Haha a whipper snipper is an Australian term for a weed wacker or line trimmer.

  • how do u tuned it up cause im building a thing like that but not a bike

we are building a mixture of a kart a buggy and some other things

but we have a gearbox with 7 gears

  • what you do with a whipper snipper or chainsaw is screw both the high and low mixture screws all the way in and then 1.5 turns out.

Then you just go from there in 1/2-1/4 turn increments until you reach a good setting.

  • I just marked quilbuilt's message as spam for the immature "mine is better than yours" immature mentality.

Great job on the chainsaw bike VERY FAST!!!

  • Great job, It looks like fun, just one suggestion! Helmet!

  • I wear a helmet in the other videos and i always wear one when riding.

  • Mine shits on that little piece of crap.

  • Well apart from the fact that this still has the original spindle (shit) and wasnt tensioned it would. I will get a video of it with the good spindle to show you that i would crap on yours.

  • thats cool let me now when u test it

  • The bike is totally finished now, It occasionally needs things replaced but it doesnt need any major changes.

  • how fast does it go

  • I would say about 30km/h Thats just a guess, i havnt tested it yet although i really should.

  • Tried tapping, metal was too thin. My bike ran smoothly for a few hours, but eventually, my engine mount became loose and the spindle started to flail wildly. Time to redesign :(

  • Yer you gotta use locknuts and spring washers to make sure they dont come loose. I always take some tools with me when im out riding.

  • In Texas, its legal to operate anything under 48cc's without any type of permit. Although walking around with wire cutters in your pocket is illegal. Strange huh?

  • Yup

  • I used a non threaded peg, bored the hole out to 5/8in to fit on the shaft, then made three evenly space tack welds to hold it directly onto the clutch shaft.

  • Hey got any videos of your bike?

  • What did you use as a spindle the spin the tire?

  • Originally it was a piece of knurled steel i made on a lathe. I then came across a piece of steel with 6 grooves machined along it and made that the spindle.

The second spindle is much better and does not wear the tyre down near as much.

  • okay umm could i use a piece of pip and maybe grind groves and sand it nice so it wont wear the tire? how could i hook that up to a half inch shaft?

  • Can you tap a thread on the shaft? If you can tap a thread in the shaft you could just bolt it on with some locktite.

If you cant tap the shaft you could drill a hole through the pipe and the shaft and lock them together with a roll pin.

  • okay thanks, wouldnt the last idea weaken the shaft tho?

  • i think ill end up taping the shaft and then taping the inside of the pipe and use locktight. umm is a smaller spindle better?

  • Spindle size is a difficult question. To bigger spindle and the engine wont have the power to push you along. If the spindle is too small it will be nearly impossible to start due to the compression. I would recomend a spindle of about 1 inch in diameter.

  • It could weaken it but it depends on the width of the shaft. You couldnt do it if the shaft was only diameter 10mm

  • can i just say bro that this is well good i have a bmx lying around and im too lazy to peddle lol so this would be handy could u giv me any tips on making it plz cheers again

  • If look at all my other videos on the bike and look at the comments i have givin some tips. Tzi scooterworld is a good site for homemade stuff so i reckon you should check it out.

  • It sounds like your running too rich, lowering the engine's top rpm and making it stutter. This also may explain the high fuel consumption. nice job though ;) Check out my electric scooter

  • Hi Thanks. I have leaned out the mixture and it runs better now. I like the idea of an electric bike but they are too expensive... when batteries come down in price i will look into one.

  • nice takeoff!

  • shittin balls that is awesome, sounds good aswell. how many miles do you get out of a full tank do you reckon?

  • the fuel milage isnt very good id say about 8-10 kms per litre but that is a total guess. on my finished video you can see how much fuel comes out the pipe at the photo at 20secs

  • dont engines off weedwackers and chainsaws work better when they are hot? do you ever get burned on the engine?

  • yer they do work better hot but since this doesnt have any covers over it it would run considerably hotter than usual

  • do you have to really wack the engine like hell befor you ride it to warm it up or something?

  • naa just a quick ride warms it up. usually on down and back the street would do it.

  • would you be able to mount the engine without any welding?

  • yes definatly but it is harder i think. you can pick stick welders at bunnings from about $100 and with a bit of practise can make strong welds.

  • how do welders work? do they literally melt the metal together or are they like soldering irons and have a special melted metal to bond the two surfaces?

  • they melt the 2 surfaces together. soldering is far less strong.

  • this is awesome...making a scooter with chainsaw motor..i just wanted to warn u i heard if u rev it to long the motor will get ruined..but this is one sick bike

  • Thanks. The engine on my bike has the covers removed and this would be the only reason it would get ruined. 2-strokes are designed to run at high RPM especially a chainsaw. i'll hopefully get another video up soon as its all painted and has a better spindle

  • dragunob is a faggit that thing is awsome mate well done

  • haha thanks for agreeing with me :D iv painted it and it looks awsome i'll post up another video soon.

  • Very nice Job. Did you have any problems with the pipe to tire slip? Yours seems to be much neater than the one I built. I used a belt driving a big wooden pulley mounted on the back tire

  • Thanks. Iv looked at your video to get some ideas. The first spindle i made (which is on this bike) was good for about 1 hour but then the knurling weared down and the spindle would slip on the tyre. Iv since made another spindle, the drive part of the spindle looks similar to a goped spindle, its a piece of tube with 6 grooves milled parallel and it grips really well.

  • illegal

  • do i care, im not going to get caught and if i do i'll just say im sorry i wont ride it again. Go back to pedaling your pushbike you pussy

  • sorry,i don't pedal as i have a LEGAL motor kit for my bicycle that does not exceed 200 watts.Under current NSW law you could be fined up to $2000 for operating an unregistred vehicle...only power assisted bicycles not exceeding 200 watts power output need not be registred and there must be a declaration to back this up

  • well iv been caught on my motobike and they just got my name. i think most people dont really care about these sort of things its only old senile people who want to get there afternoon nap at 4pm who care. add to this i dont continually ride up and down the one street.
