in reference to your infor tag, in my personal view there is no similarity between Cook Island dance and Hawaiian. The Cook Island drum dance is unique to itself alone, beat, rythmn, expresssion, interpretation and movement. It is said that the Hawaiians borrowed from the Tahitians and the Cook Islands.
But when it comes to kapa rima, slow action song dance, then Hawaii holds its own stamp in this categorie, there it can be said the Tahitians and the Cook Islanders borrowed from the Hawaiians.
@timzes Its originality is unknown but you got to agree about one thing. We ALL came from one family and one nation but due to lacked of resources and spaces, our ancestors had to do their best to explored and occupied every islands they could find for the benefits of their families and Ainga. One thing we could see and learn in our everyday lives are:Our traditions, names and cultures are still carried out even when we are gone just like the generations of the past.
