  • This must be hard to make :O but its whas nice job.

  • Woops, you used GAME MAKER? Well i have never used that before but i would love to see what it is like!

  • My first on flash was better, but that doesn't say much since it was my first on FLASH (ive had over 3 years of animating experience on other programs, although learning all the functions of flash were a little challenging! (Also, yours was fleshed out and mine was just a frame by frame of many limb movements such as clapping and dump)

  • Camstudio is a great recorder. Altough i use hypercam 2 with DVIX Codec

  • OK HOW DO YOU ANIMATE IN GAME MAKER LIKE THIS?!?!?!??!

  • how did you use game maker to animate?!?!?!?!

  • Damn that's very good I don't believe u when u say it's your first

  • The only way I found out I could do something like this was I would use paint then movie maker making comics. I made one about Amy being fat and sitting on sonic. Once I was finished I looked at it and watched her eyes move around. That's how I discovered doing things like this. Oh, and FYI, you r way better than me at this.

  • Is GamerMaker good

I'm looking for a really good program for a flash video :3

    Please replay :D

  • that's silly

  • not bad man

  • dat sooo good

  • awesomly epic

  • 0:58 I LOVE THIS SONG! Brings ya back, don't it?

  • @ShoopDaWoosh yeah :) i love that zone very atmospherical

  • @SuperJim64 Yeeeeaaaaahhh....

  • Thanks for the compliment but I'm not doing animations anymore. They take along time and I'm not really good at it.

  • Wow, this is very good. I must say, youre very gifted and im looking forward to seeing what you'll work on next. Wish I had talent like that.. >.>

  • Amazing job on the animation =D but how exactly did you animate it with game maker?

  • What is game maker?

  • @captain0ldy0da It's a program that makes games, but I used it to animate it.

Google "YoYo Games" and you'll find it.

  • By the way, how exactly did you do it o.o; Message me?

  • @DavidKroutArt Mostly with MS Paint, used Game Maker to make it animate, HyperCam to record it, and Windows Movie Maker to add in the sound effects.

Real crude method but that's all I had to work with.

  • @TKGB2006 Oh geez haha, many programs used.. I think I would just use Photoshop and Final Cut Express, but I have these programs at my disposal... It may be small time but it is definitely inspiring! That and I suck at drawing so I am very amazed haha! Great work!

  • TKGB For a first timer, even people that have been doing it for a while I think this is very good lol...

  • that was AWESOME you rock my freind

  • that was AWESOME you rock my freind

  • really good for a first timer but could use enimys

    i give out a 7/10

  • @TheYoshifan22 I guess it could. I never thought about that. I just wanted to do something with Sonic. But hey, Scrap Brain had all those contraptions. That's almost like enemies.

  • this is really good!!

  • @sashusashu Not really. I did this a year ago. I can see flaws in it that I wish I adressed earlier, but thank you nonetheless.

  • wow.. i lie how you went from each zone to the next!! thats soo good :)

  • @1997sonicthehedgehog If you mean "I like how you went from each zone" then, yes, so I do I. Thanks.

  • Oh my god, this is fantastic!

Especially knowing the fact that this is your first time!

    Keep up the good work!

  • @Stoshu1234

    Thank you very much.

  • are you sure this is a first time??

  • @lepigerghost Yes, I can asure you. It's not that good if you ask me.

  • i love star light zone

    :D

  • love da fire

  • @amandadolson Me too. :)

  • Brilliant, best scene though was Scrap Brain to Spring Yard.

    Great Shots too!

    -Manuel

  • @Djit Thanks for the compliment.

  • that was awesome, you even had the appropriate level objects and music for the places he went to. really nice work, thanks.

  • @johnsamer98 Thank you very much.

  • Very nicely done! Watching your comic on SJ, I'd say you're doing pretty darn well at this point. Can't wait to see how far you go~

That aside, I've been contemplating trying to learn animation lately -- it's been becoming a bit of an obsession, I fear.

    Any thoughts/tips? They'd be very appreciated. (:

  • I'm not an animator at heart, I'm just a drawer. The only thing I can recommend is patience and alot of it. Patience to learn a software that can make animation easier or patience to do it all by yourself and drawn each frame one by one. Also knowing what you are doing is important so i suggest you plan what you want first.

  • Thanks but I feel I can do better, but that would require over a month, which is the amount of time this took me.

  • Awesome work! you really should make more because you have skills.

  • Thank you. If I had the time, I would.

  • cool... Watch my sonic animations because I need at least 4 animators to create a hilarious collage project called Sonic Slapstick. Send me a personal message if your interested and I'll get to it ASAP!

  • Woah, holy cow! Man, this is amazing, better then what I could do in a million years!! Man, I used to suck at drawing... now i`m pretty darn good, so are you, too!

Anyways, my point is, keep it up. This rocked my world, amazing. 10000/5 stars!

  • It's good to hear a compliment for someone's work as well as not downsizing themselves too.

    Thnx a bunch.

  • Oh, no problem!! It`s just really awesome, and I hope you make more!

  • wow..

    better then me XD

  • But no better than Sonic Team. :(

    Thanx for the compliment.

  • X3 kk

  • Better than whut i cud doo.

  • Well I'm not exactly an expert in this field myself. ;)

  • sweet vid :D

  • Thanks.

  • no prob :)

  • very nicely done.

  • Thank you very much.

  • I used to suck at drawing too believe it or not. ;)

    Thanks for the compliment.

  • Not really. But thanks for the compliment.

  • wow... you're amazing

  • Thank you kindly.

  • wow and this is your first time? dude, seriously, keep this up your awesome at it.

  • Thanks.

  • very good for just starting!! try some eye and mouth expressions when you hold him... it will help your audience to develop a deeper bond with him ;) I've directed animation for 8 years in smaller studios and several of the big boys...but when you can get them to connect with feelings it bumps up the interest... keep up the great work!

  • Oh wow. Thanks for commenting.

But what do you mean by "when you hold him"?

  • @TKGB2006 Not sure if I got back on this... it just means you hold the frames for the character so they aren't moving.... something as simple as a shift in the eyes conveys a lot... so do eyebrows.

  • @Rainwatercolor I see now. Thanks for the reply.

  • realy nice

  • Very nice animation much better than my first

  • Thanks

  • flash is definatly much easier to work with and with unlimited undo's it's handy if you make a mistake

  • UNLIMITED UNDOS!!!??? OH crap. I definitely gotta try it out.

  • ....was that real or an "I DONT REALLY CARE"

  • It was real. I tend to sometimes change my mind on stuff and am dissapointed that there is only a limited undos that I have to start all over and that usually pulls me away from the program. If it has unlimited undos, then I wont be so discouraged.

  • kick ass! can't wait to see more if there are more.

  • Thanks for the compliment. At the moment I'm not doing anything full stream. I'm working on a webcomic that's animated but that's as far as I am right now.

  • Thanks for the compliment. At the moment nothing is planned. I want try out flash first to see if I will continue. So far I'm working on an animated webcomic but that's it.

  • So long as the storyline is better than Sonic turning into a werehog, then hell yeah I'd be more than happy to watch a series Lol.

  • Thnx for the confidence but I might be putting this project on definite hiatus.

  • Great stuff!!

  • Thanks for the comment. :)

  • if you can sit there and use ms paint to animate, then you've definately got the patience to be an animator.

Tho honestly, im not at all impressed with paint.

    Get Flash!

    Get Flash Now!

  • Sorry but I realized animation is really, really time consuming. I won't be doing animated features anytime soon. I'll resort to animating sprites and stuff like that but not big features.

Though I would like to try out flash but I don't know where to start. Do I even want to use flash in the first place?

  • flash definately makes things easier than paint. in paint you have to sit there and redraw the same picture over and over.

in flash, you can just draw the picture once and have flash slide it around for you. the idea is to have multiple pics sliding around simultaneously.

id say flash is worth a shot. find yourself a trial version. work with that for a while. that way, if you decide you dont like it, you didnt waste any money! Good luck!

  • Sounds like a good idea. I'll consider it. Thanks much. ;)

  • thats really good!!!! you animate 100 times better than me!!!

  • Thanks.

  • wow great job for your first time lol thats what she said but realy great job

  • Uhh...thanks.

  • this is great of a first time im going to do some thin like it.

  • Thanks for the compliment. Hope yours looks better than mine.

  • This is very good. Lol makes me wanna play sonic on my 360

  • Thanks for the comment.

  • No Prob

  • wow nice!

  • Thanks.

  • hay you put this a day after my birthday!! =D and nice video good job keep up the good work!!! ;)

  • Dude... This is the SEX!! I'm favoriting ! =o

  • That is pretty awesome.

  • Thnx. :)

  • The feet look kinda weird in a lot of the running sequences. You might want to try doing the blurry circle like the old genesis sprites and see if that looks better.

  • I'm working on that. Believe it or not, I don't know how to do that but I'm working on doing the figure 8 one which is my favorite.

  • See if you can find sprite sheets. The individual frames that make up the running animation are probably the best place to start.

  • Yeah, I got that suggestion many times. I'm going to consider it.

  • Pretty good! Your timing is pretty spot on.

  • Thanks.
