  • Unbiased observation: when i heard the first few seconds of this (never heard before) I automatically thought of heart shaped box.

  • NIRVANA DESTROYED PUNK ROCK! I was there, I saw it happen.

BTW, roejogan8 sounds like a giant douche.

  • @pushover1 Nirvana didnt destroy punk......... I dont even see them as a punk band, just an alternate rock band. The first album is a sludge (melvins worship) album the next are just kinda punky catch rock. I was their too and they are still amazing, you just dont like them cause its cool not to.

  • @mrgordonplaysdrums I can appreciate what you are saying. It's funny, back when in the late 80s/early 90s, the "alternative" section of my record store was ALL punk: Black Flag, Circle Jerks, DK, plus a lot of lesser-known bands. Suddenly the record industry co-opted the term "alternative" to sell records that were more palatable to mainstream tastes, like Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and "Ten" by Pearl Jam. BTW, I disliked Nirvana even when it was cool to like them!

  • @gmx1100 I dont know what record store you where going too then, But if i wanted to get a punk/hardcore/powerviolence record i would go to my local record store and and go to the punk/hardcore section lol. You cant really compare nirvana to pearl jam cause pearl jam are just like an early nickel-back. And man you are so edgy with your hate for mainstream music, That dressing down on the word alternitive just made me throw out all my lmfao cds.

  • @mrgordonplaysdrums Why are you such a douche? I was trying to be nice!

  • @gmx1100 Cause, this is the internet. I can be a cunt to you all i like and i will never met you in person :)

  • @mrgordonplaysdrums why would any human being that has witnessed songs composed by Blake ever EVER acquire filth like LMFAO, dude, if you ever possessed those satanic talismans, you need some help

  • I like JTB and Nirvana. Everyone can quit their weeping now.

  • NIRVANA ripped off Blake you misguided kids.

  • @TheSEOUTLAW yeah the 91 song ripped off the 98 song

    suuuuuuuuuuuuure

  • Arguing on a Jets to Brazil video, seriously?

  • You can tell me that it doesn't sound like Nirvana all you want, but that's what it is. I've made better recordings than this, and I pride myself on my sloppy playing.

  • I like Nirvana. But they really are overrated.

  • @ElectricHaze0 they deserve all the praise they get. they earned it.

  • Blake>Kurt. 'Nuff said.

  • @rosiegirl001 no that's not enough said. nirvana are great. this here is a great song. end of story.

  • @roejogan8 You like Nirvana, cool story, we all want to hear about how good you think their albums are. It's still shit compared to Jawbreaker, sweetheart.

  • @rosiegirl001 you only like emo music and you're a young lady who's probably never even seen a musical instrument let alone played one. so really, what do you know? i love jawbreaker too but nirvana's brilliance can't be denied. nirvana took them on tour you know. you probably never even would have heard of them if not for that. how deep can your musical knowledge and depth really be? i checked your favorites and there's hardly anything there! nirvana's not shit compared 2 anything

  • @roejogan8 There's hardly anything in my favorites? Hardly any WHAT? Dude, just stop. You're that guy that everyone laughs at because you write paragraphs on youtube videos. Sweeetheeeart. Jawbreaker is better than Nirvana. That's my opinion and the opinion of most people that have listened to both bands. Fine and dandy if you like Nirvana more. IMO Blake was probably one of the most talented lyricists in the punk scene. So many punk musicians were inspired by him. End of story.

  • @rosiegirl001 You're a hypocrite, you should work on that :)

  • @JebustheCommunist she's young. just needs some time to mature and grow.

  • @rosiegirl001 hardly any MUSIC vids favorited. i have an ever changing list of favorite records in my profile. music is the most important thing in my life. and who's laughing, sweetheart? and that is certainly not the opinion of most people. agreed, blake did write really good lyrics, kurt himself liked jawbreaker. talented lyricist and musicians being inspired by him? that also sounds like you're talking about kurt cobain and nirvana. end of story.

  • @rosiegirl001 SWEETHEART

  • @roejogan8 Nirvana were OK....but to call any Nirvana album "brilliant" sounds kinda ridiculous. "Nevermind" especially. It was good, solid music for the masses. A commercial success. But "brilliant"?

  • @gmx1100 nevermind especially? you're trolling. so you can't have commercial success and be valid artistically at the same time? explain the beatles, neil young, the rolling stones, led zeppelin, etc. nirvana had and still have a huge cult fan base, massive commercial success and nevermind is in the top 3 most critically acclaimed records of all time. not to mention how influential and respected they are among other great bands and artists.

  • @roejogan8 I guess it all just comes down to what sounds good to your ear. I was 18 when Nevermind came out, and I remember everyone going wild over it....it just never "grabbed" me. Anyway, take care.

  • @rosiegirl001 Hardly any music videos favorited? So fucking what? It's called I have an iPod and records and I don't sit on youtube all fucking day bitching at people on videos. Sweet story. Again, no one fucking cares. Shut up. I LIKE BLAKE MORE. GET OVER IT.

  • Nirvana? They could never write like Blake.

  • "I have been kissed between the ears with human error."

"I need a word to change my life."

"They're playing love songs on your radio tonight.

I don't get those songs on mine!"

    Favorite lines in this amazing song. <3 ;^;

  • I read a lot of people banging on about Nirvana with tongues venomous towards Jawbreaker and JTB, and I think they should...

... Go choke on the fat end of Liam Neeson's dong. xxxx

  • Sounds like "Gouge Away" by the Pixies to me.

  • I remember listening to this through an old analog television with a friend in a small trailer park room in a bad part of Florida.

  • Awsome!

  • Ha! This is not Nirvana. Heart-shaped box? Really? You apparently can't hear music very well. This is not a top 40 popular band! This is not Nirvana, retards. Go listen to your fucking radio some more! Idiots that know nothing of music! This band is brilliant! I have a heart-shaped box for you!

  • @fuseman911 Idiot, it's the same chordsm of course it sounds like Heart Shaped Box, apparantly you can't hear music very well

  • @fuseman911 I thought Youtube was too mainstream for hipsters?

Today has been filled with it's surprises.

  • @BassAdams6661 lolololol

  • @fuseman911 The chord progression in the beginning is very similar to heart shaped box... you're quick to call everyone an idiot based on boring closed minded reasoning.

  • @fuseman911 shut up. the only retard 'round here is you.

  • I like nirvana!

  • This song is featured in

    "I Fysche

    II Fysche

    Raw Fysche

    Gold Fysche"

She will be interviewed on SpirituallyRawDOTCOM on Tuesday June 14 10amEST

Thank you Jets to Brazil for being so inspirational !!!!!!!!!!

  • at 2:00 your heart can't help but start racing

  • @BCsongs You're so fucking right.

  • i like jets to brazil more than fuckin nirvana yea nirvana was big they were good but i like jets to brazil MORE!!!!!

  • Dirty distortion and simple power chords were not patented by Nirvana.

  • @wrarmatei it's the exact same first 2 chords arpeggiated the exact same way with that same drum beat on the rim... it's a different song for sure but give some credit where it's deserved.

  • @roejogan8 Give credit to a band that hasn't existed for thirty years? Okay. I'm sure they'll all appreciate it and it will probably make you feel a lot better about downloading all of their albums.

  • @wrarmatei i have a massive cd and record collection. no downloading for this guy. does your sad attempt at an insult make you feel better about the fact that the main riff in this song very closely resembles the great heart shaped box? and for the record i love this song and am glad about the guitar riff.

  • @wrarmatei No but this specific distortion with these specific notes and this specific riff and this specific drum pattern ARE Nirvana's Heart Shaped Box. I give absolutely no credit to the band for this song.

  • @TravisBarkerJunior You're a joke. Nirvana doesn't compare to anything Blake did.

  • @rosiegirl001 you're a joke. nevermind, unplugged, and in utero are all masterpieces. sorry to tell ya, hater.

  • @wrarmatei the riff is almost identical as is the drum on the rim thing, not to mention the riff going from loud to soft. great song but give credit where it's do.

  • yes, this song does sound similar to nirvana, heart shaped box

  • this song is awesome

you nirvana nut clingers need to fuck off

  • @defragen1 we never said it wasn't awesome. it is. we're not nut clingers, we have ears, the riff is similar. BIG DEAL.

  • @defragen1 it is awesome. but the riff is like heart shaped box and there's no denying it.

  • I started to sing...but Kurt didn't.

  • Def a shot at nirvana. But this is all after the fact. I'd like to see Jets To Brazil rise to their status w/o the influences from their own time..

  • they sort of sound like TSOL but slowed down a few tempos

  • ...people are so close-minded. You're listening to one of the greatest song ever... why wasting your time comparing this song to Nirvana?? Enjoy the listening and thank Jets to Brazil for its wonderful songwriting...

  • They're playing love songs on your radio tonight......I don't get those songs on mine.

  • you keep fuckin up my life......... So perfect

  • note to self:

    no one cares

    your voice is average

  • This song is so powerful it moves me but I wish it didn't ...Blake Schwartzenbach is a poet in the truest sense but he's a Richardhead....but I still admire him as one of four songwriters that are better than me :>)

  • this song was an inmportant part of my life when in it came out in 1998......if you have ever had a girl cheat on you then you can relate to this song.

  • It does sound like Nirvana, but I really like the lyrics much better honestly. Also Jawbreaker and JtB were original enough to have a soundalike song once.

  • @vsander09 u can't get better lyrics than heart shaped box. this is a great song btw

  • @roejogan8 Really? You CAN'T get better lyrics? Not a fan of music, eh?

  • @blueballsredhair nope. as good, yes, but for a pop song, lyrics don't get much more original or interesting than that.

  • @roejogan8 Wow, if only Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, The Beatles, Neil Young, Leonard Cohen, and the like could have learned from Kurt Cobain. Give me a break.

  • @blueballsredhair those artists you just mentioned were fans of kurt.( not sure about tom waits) paul mccartney- "he was a genius" neil young- " He really, really inspired me. He was so great. Wonderful. One of the best, but more than that. Kurt was one of the absolute best of all time for me." bob dylan- "that kid had heart" looks like neil did learn something from kurt. he even thanked him for all his inspiration when he was inducted into the rock and roll hof. so give me a break, pal.

  • @roejogan8 You're an idiot. These artists wrote their best known albums nearly 30 years before Nirvana existed. What is wrong with you? Honestly? Are you Courtney Love or just stupid?

  • @blueballsredhair

How's that even relevent to what Roe was talking about? If anything, you're the idiot here.

  • @tubbythug92 Um, the dude said that Kurt Cobain was an influence on those artists. That's a tough argument to make when they made their records decades before. What are you talking about? What was irrelevant? Nirvana fanboys are nearly unbearable, my god.

  • @blueballsredhair

"were fans of kurt" not influenced by Kurt, you idiot. TRUE Nirvana fanboys know what they are talking about. Only pestering morons like yourself don't know what they are talking about, and say stupid things just so they can get the last word in a argument.

  • Haha, dude. You came here after your friend called you in for help. And your last response to me was identical to what he posted on your little page. You two are fucking pitiful.

"i sent it! check out the guy i'm arguing with on the jets of brazil vid. his latest comeback was so weak... lmao! it was so obvious he had nothing to say and just posted for the sake of it. lol!"

Go put on Bleach and get back to your circle jerk.

  • @blueballsredhair

He didn't call for help. Why would he with a dumb responce like yours? I just couldn't help but say something to such ignorance. Now I see you're really trying to get the last word, I'm not allowing that privaledge.

  • @tubbythug92 You spelled response and privilege wrong. :)

  • @blueballsredhair

    Point being?

  • @tubbythug92 I like carrots.

  • @blueballsredhair

This is why Roe stopped replying to you.

  • @tubbythug92 I just can't quit you.

  • @blueballsredhair weak reply. uncle roe is not impressed. i didn't invent those quotes. the artists you mentioned were fans of kurt. when in time they recorded music doesn't matter. it doesn't change what they said. go watch neil young's induction into the rock and roll hall of fame. paul maccartney called him a genius and bob dylan said he head heart. FACT. now just accept it and move on. neil called him one of the best of all time. don't be pissy because they're right.

  • @roejogan8 Hey man, welcome back!

  • @blueballsredhair thanks little buddy:)

  • @tubbythug92 :) :) :) :)

  • @blueballsredhair

I like Iggy Pop, how about you?

  • @tubbythug92 I popped a pimple named Iggy once, that count?

  • @blueballsredhair

    Me too.

  • @tubbythug92 cool.

  • @blueballsredhair

    Very cool.

  • i never said kurt was an influence on them. read it again and stop making up stories. i did say he inspired neil. and that isn't a hard argument to make because he said it himself. hello? earth to blueballs. i'm no fanboy, i'm stating facts and things that were said by others. i'm a fan of good music, peroid. what's pitiful is i buried you where you stand, then you embarrass yourself by even replying. i showed you up for the fool that you are. you made it almost too easy.

  • you keep fucking up my life!

  • SHE EYES ME LIKE A PISCES WHEN I AM WEAK

  • Kurt Cobain used to wear Jawbreaker shirts . Jawbreaker was the lead singer of Jets to brazil's first band.

  • @edgmntblvd Is it bad that I read this and thought you meant Jawbreaker and Jets to Brazil were people? His name is Blake Schwarzenbach, please use it so I'm not comfused

  • @lamesuseless27 blake schwarzenbach is pretty confusing. try saying that 3 times fast when your drunk

  • @lamesuseless27 Hahaha I was thinking about the same thing.

  • I hear Nirvana....

  • we all agree on it having a nirvana feel which is really cool if you compare it to all things good and air traffic control they totally have a different feel I love Jets to Brazil

  • this tune is a dream!

  • JTB FTW!!

  • Comment removed

  • i cant be the only person who thinks the intro sounds like "something in the way" and "heart shaped box" made sweet love to each other?

  • no shit i started tapping the beat on the desk, and thought.. nirvana?? figured my rhythm must be off, then i looked up and saw this comment. naw this is almost eerily a tribute to heart shaped box, like 2:20 is the most blatant. whats up with that??

  • The song in general sounds alot like a 90's emo/math rock influenced Nirvana, actually. None of you are crazy :)

  • @rissx I KNOW, I WAS JUST THINKING THE SAME FUCKING THING! what the hell?

  • @rissx You aren't!

  • @rissx sounds like Gouge Away by the Pixies...i love JTB but yeah

  • great song

  • one of the best written albums ive heard, genius.full stop.

  • def one of there best songs

  • heart shaped box intro

  • that's exactly what I was thinking, lol

  • what is that a reference 2?

  • its amazing how the sound and feel of the music match the lyrical content so well.

  • lol i had flashbacks to heart shaped box too!

  • why cnt i write songs like this

  • I'm having flashbacks to Nirvana's Heart Shaped Box ..

  • Well because of the wah wah peddle, but I do see a similarity. Pretty much anything Blake S was in, is gold though! I own this cd.

  • @wrymecheers yeah except this is about 1000 times better.

  • love this fucking song JTB rules

  • amen i do

  • You do do you

  • no buddhism, no psychotherapy, only psychoanalisys cures, french analisys. Good luck with the pain.

  • I can relate. I write, and no one knows the pain that runs through each word. Ready to become a buddhist, and bury my romantic days
