Nice setup, would be nice to get the winch higher so you can stack those puppies. A bit much work for firewood gathering but ideal for taking those prestine pieces to the sawmill...
The winch is right where it needs to be for a few reasons. The height of the snatch block is what matters. The slabs in the background are the clue that these logs are at my sawmill.
@logtrailer i live in upstate ny we heat some small buildings for animals to, i have a hydraulic pump and 8k winch. I think i might draw up some plans, my brother inlaws good with a weilder, thanks for your help.

he will soon learn why you wear gloves with a winch cable and don't let it run thru your hand!

@Begbucks
Thanks. I get one end up, reset the choker on the back of the log, leave the snatch block on the boom and let the winch push it up.

Great idea, did u make the whole trailer what size are the cross beams on the trailer

@sick2003f150
The trailer is welded with 2x3 square tube with several wall thicknesses.

@logtrailer How much is something like this? we burn about 16-18 cord a year and this would make getting it to the house alot easier.
sick2003f150 2 months ago
@sick2003f150
It depends on the winch and hydraulics but somewhere between $6000and$8000. 16-18 cord would mean you're in the north country.

The winch has 80' of cable, I carry a log arch in the truck that clips to the cable and keeps the log up out of the dirt.
Thanks

This is great! How far can it pull a log out of the woods?
