Look at the two countries that spent the most time under Japanese administration : South Korea and Taiwan-- they're both economic giants now. Perhaps the Philippines fought for the wrong side?

Some guy named LordDaine has done all those videos of anthems for every country (including in Asia). Besides, other than Japan, Philippines and maybe South Korea, I couldn't care less about the other countries in east and southeat Asia. I agree with samurai1331. The Philippine Anthem is much more march and stately like. Compared to the United States, the Japan national anthem compares more with 'God Bless America' or 'America the Beautiful' whereas 'Lupang Hinirang' compares more with 'The Star Spangled Banner'. The components my comparison is based on are mood, tempi, legatto vs detached articulation, and stately characteristics.
