  • Keep the change, ya filthy animal

    XD

  • For a while I watched this over and over. Excellent movie!

  • They need to Remake this film. I think that not only would it be a big hit but it would gained alot of oscar nominations including Best Picture if they find the right person to direct it. I can see Leonardio Dicaprio playing Cagney's Character and Christian Bale playing O'Brien's character. What do you think?

  • gangster movie at it's best

  • I love this one.. scarface .. the public enemy little Caesar the roaring twenties smart money

  • I'm 22 years old and I realize that no time period is greater than any other time period for any medium of artistic expression.

  • Does anyone know where I can find this film the whole thing on video or dvd?? I can't find it in stores anywhere??

  • @TonyGonzo1988 Well, It's "Out There" if You know what I mean.

Ask a few "Friends" on where to get difficult films, The "Internet" can be a great place to "Research Suppliers", Wink, Wink

  • Welcome to, true cinema do not get me wrong some of today's movies are cool but old cinema is the best.

  • Came here after watching Home Alone.

  • after scarface 1932 this is my favorite gangster movie .movie is never dull and moves at a fast clip

  • 1:09 WHOOPEE HAT!!!!

  • Nothing beats Alfred Hitchcock movies.

  • What ya say what ya hear

  • Great!!!

  • i looked this up because after the authors note in the book "The Westies" it has a quate saying "Good morning gentlemen...Nice day for a murder" from Angels with dirty faces

  • I think it was Cagney- said for a while there people thought he got up and shot Humphrey Bogart for breakfast every day.

  • How can you keep a straight face. This movie was spoofed in Home Alone on the VHS.

  • @JimmyJones

I don't know, maybe for him to not be forgotten. That would be nice :) what is the use of an award if no one knows? Gig Young- a man who won a well deserved oscar for his role in 'They Shoot Horses, Don't They?', and yet nobody knows him. he is within the ranks of countless other great and yet forgotten actors. actors who were popular, but not enough to be remembered after their deaths. Mr Cagney does not deserve that IMHO.

  • awsum! u should try 'the dam busters' if u like old films. thats one of the best of britain

  • @milionarii

Haha :) no i really am! trust me lol. i just have 'odd' taste (i call it good taste tho) :)

  • @stigler30

Nowadays i find that hollywood relies too much on CGI and other effects. I feel that exceptional acting is lost in translation. Not all the time, but there are definite cases of this. Go back to cagney's times all you had was simple sets, a good script and fantastic acting. i love the simplicity. However, i do agree it's not for everyone :)

  • @JOSKE123100 agreed

  • @JOSKE123100 i totally agree, i am thirteen years old and i love old classic movies such as this one. CGI has taken control of most movies, and people are starting to forget how great old movies are. I'm happy that at least someone else close to my age understands that huge special effects is not everything. Long live old classic movies!

  • i am fifteen years of age and i hate the modern movie industry.

James Cagney was the greatest actor ever, period, and yet virtually no one knows it.

this film is testament to his brilliance.

i love this film so much, i have embarked on a project to adapt and perform this story on my local stage, and the ending gets me every time.

Long live O'BRIEN, MITCHUM, HOLDEN, FLYNN, LANCASTER and, of course, the great Mr CAGNEY.

may they all rest in peace.

  • @JOSKE123100 Why is it you prefer movies made under the regime of The Hays Code? On the contrary everything since 1968 until now is The Golden Age of Film.

  • @stigler30 Granted there are an awful lot of shit bombs but there always have been.

  • @JOSKE123100 youre an old fuck, you aint fifteen lol

  • @JOSKE123100 Again with the age card. "And yet virtually no one knows it" really? lol. The man received more than many awards. What else do you need?

  • @JOSKE123100 im 15 too james is my old time fav actor

  • @JOSKE123100 suck your own balls

  • @JOSKE123100 of corse he was good this movie is rly good idc if its in black and white black and white is the shit my teacher even said black and white got more of a story to it like the movie raging bull all the actors from the 30s-80s were good when it hit 2000s it got borning

  • The current movie industry landscape does tend to be a little too sequel-/remake-ladened. There's a lot to be said for the movie stars you'd listed, but every succeeding film generation should have their own special movie stars and films.

Director/producer Norman Jewison once suggested that film makers just concentrate on telling good stories and not to be so hyper-focused on box office receipts.

ORIGINALITY is what's missing from movies these days; and what it really, really needs!

  • @JOSKE123100 the greatest things are not known by many. This is no exception. As the many things we know in life are never as they truly seem. People will learn in time, but only if they allow themselves to delve deeper into understanding. This goes for the media, government, politics, art, etc. You are awakened good sir. Merry Christmas

  • One of my favorite movies; I just love it! Caught it at 2 a.m. on TCM one night, was mesmerized, bought it that same day. The end still gets me teary-eyed, every time.

  • I love old movies.

  • YES!!!!
