Good luck dude as I heard to be able to put your 2 feet together is the hardest part of the swivel technique a friend of mine has been working on that for a while now ( it s still not correct ).
just alittle. ive been working with my pdp pedals for a while. i hate them. lol but yes. im going to upgrade to 2 sing pearl eliminators then maybe axis later down the road.
@Jleedrummermetal Lol have those same PDPs, they are basically shit. I have them loose as hell yet they feel like mud. Just upgrade straight to Axis, why spend money on two pedals?
but i just bout 2 pearl pedals. alot better. not a higher end pearl. i have two bass drums and i like the sound of 2. its more powerful. lol i plan on getting axis soon btw once i take care of some other crap.lol
@Jleedrummermetal Yeah i figured you bought them, concidering your comment was nearly a year ago. yeah dude, those pdps are basically mud, not fun what so ever to play. And do you know why people hate Axis so much, because i really dont?
@thisisformusiconly lol yeah. They are alot better then what i had before. i can hit 220-230ish comfortably now. You know i never got why people hate Axis. I always hear that they either have not so much power or they break easy. but others say they last long and have lots of power. so i guess its just something each drummer has to find out on there own.
@Jleedrummermetal yeah, but i dont want to find out, i want to know, because the only music shop i have around here is Guitar Center and they do not have Axis on them. . . sad. The other problem, money. I just cant spend that much(i have the money but my parents would kill me). I was thinking about Gibraltar direct drives but i have to test those out.
i hope everyone out there understands, the swivel technique doesnt make u faster or anything, its just an involuntary movement. the only thing that'll make u faster is PRACTICE!!
Thank you Finally someone who isnt all obsesed with technique. This just happens when you go fast. its NOT a technique that makes you better. Its just getting good through practice. there are no cheats so quit looking for one. this guy (metaldrummer420) has got the right idea
rock bands not for faggots, its for ppl who dont have time to learn an instrument because they have other things to do. dont judge people, its not nice
your time is better spent playing the real drums. What do you think is going to get you more pussy down that road? the fact that you are an amazing drummer, or that you used to be good at a fake drumming video game?
What I was trying to say (with a little sarcasm) is that why put any time into fake drums when the real thing is in the next room? 20 years from now when no one will really even remember "rock band." That seems like a waste of good practice time.
basically I don't see the point of a simulation when you already do the real thing.
Because its not exactly fake drums, I see it as a game that is fun to play with friends, and its different to all these games where all you need is a game controller or keypad. Its just harmless fun. I wouldnt say i replace my practise time with rock band, that is stupid- what i was trying to get at is instead of using a pracise pad, just use the drums for that, when the game isnt playing :P just not everyone appreciates drums being heard a few houses down every day.
Its just a game, its just for fun, not for people who pretend to drum. If you use it as a substitute then yes, it would make you a faggot. But its just fun with friends... for the lolz
lol, heel-toe is not easier. to get that technique right without hitting to fast or to slow is really hard, while this is just about getting used to swiveling while you play.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
uh that was not fast. You don't really need any technique to play that slow and it looks like you don't get the seccond stroke on your swivels, but nice try!
nice. need a bit of work cleaning up the swivel, though. I mainly use the swivel when I play, and I find that I swivel more with my left foot when playing live, mostly to keep a beat. make sure you aren't tring to make your foot do a downward motion. the swiveling makes a downward motion naturally, so just focus on moving your heels side to side and the beats will start to come naturally.
yeah, increase the pedal spring tension and just slightly tension you calves (have your heels up,) and rock your whole lower leg side to side. it takes quite a while to get the feel down, so don't get discouraged if you don't get it right away. I can play 16ths at about 215 bpm for about 5 minutes when i do this. To go faster, I lower my heel a bit, and swivel from the ball of my foot instead of the toes (think of a small gear turning a big one. less power but more speed.)
very nice one foot blasts! and yes you do need to work on the swivel, but yer better than me, i can do it real well with my right but my left foot is retarded it's not easy!! keep working, you got real good timing
swivel doesnt have to be on both feet, look at George Kollias(swivel with the left), same with Tim Yeung. even I use swivel on the left, but not on the right.. usually it's played with the weakest foot, in my case my left.
Muscle memory pure and simple. What I have learned is that if you can play on one pedal, you can play on any pedal. It's a matter of teaching your muscles to work the way you want them to. The spring settings are for preference plain and simple.
You've really got it! Thanks for sharing it with me. Of course I can't get enough of a good thing. You always leave me wanting more. I can take whatever you dish out. So keep the thump going.
hi nice playing but i dont get it, why and when would you use the "swivel technique". isnt it easier just to, like play "normally". lol im no drummer so i dunno
You can get quicker, tighter movement using the swivel technique. Try doing traditional bass pedal movement and then compare it to the control you have using swivel. It may not work for everyone, but works for me for this reason.

not if you relax.
and besides, they say drumming is bad for your wrists (but only if you do traditional grip.)

its about your knees, thats what George Kolias said.

where did he say it?

my drum teacher told me.

Yea i do traditional grip and my wrists get pretty painful sometimes, seems to happen more often when i 'practise' on the ol' air drums...

oh yeah. air drumming=bad. it puts a lot of train on the wrong tendons. get a practice pad.
