MARC GP40WH-2s and Kawasaki cab cars have Gyralite 20585 units. MARC got an exemption on the ditchlight rules because the GP40WH-2s were speced at the same time the triangular light pattern rule was adopted. Yes, our GP40WH-2s don't have ditchlights and can run 79 mph on the 2 lines with grade crossings.
I love the Gyras' because they have a sweep action that really gets everything along the track lit, alot better than ditchlights. Those work okay for BEING seen by others, but nothing from the engineer's view is better for visibility than the Gyra or Mars light.
Maryland Area Rail Commuter. "MARC" started about 19 years ago. For the 10 years previous to that, it was just equipment painting with MDOT all over it, and before that, it was simply the B&O's commuter service.-Jeffrey
The MARS-light on the second locomotive made the it even more amazing!
