i also HAVE that problem on my psp,but one way to fix it is try no to touch the screen too much, the other ay is to buy a screen protector, the problem lies with either missing screws or loose screen, hope this could help
right its your IC unit, you've dropped it (maybe even lightly) at somepoint and some connections have broke in your unit, you need to open it up and get to the motherboard, get some average tape and roll it into a small ball and put it on top of the unit (forcing the connections that could've broken together again) the IC unit is behind the D pad, the put it all back together again and it should work, i have had this problem. :-)
Hello there, I was with the exactly same problem and after some research and trys I found the solution: you have to put some pressure under the D-pad (I used a square cardboard paper) and that's it. I know It looks odd but is worth the try.
I fixed my psp witch had the same issue i have the 2001 verson. All i did was open it up. lifted up the lcd screen theres a metal plate with a chip underneath the metal plate all i did was applied pressure to that chip using either the heat pads that are in the unit by dividing them up, or you could use thick paper or cardboard or something to add more pressure to the chip without applying too much pressure that would cause any damage to the screen or chip. it worked for me.
that happens when the battery dies. the video requires more of the battery so that goes out first.. then the sound eventually drowns out. i remember that happened to my psp as well as to my portable dvd player. the movie would fade to black but i could still hear the sound for another minute or two before it all went out
i know what this is its your screen its inside you need open it up then check the screen ports and see if there something wrong if there is you might need to clip it get a newmother boartd
I have this problem. The PSP's mainboard is spoilt. The processor is not well soldered to the motherboard . Nothing to do with screen. We cannot solder it because it's surface mount onto the mainboard. We need a professional heat blower to do the job.
mines does the same thing i figur out it not the screen its the fuse in the psp it fades out because it has no power running to the screen the only way to fix it it take the screen out and put it back and it should run fine
@NatedawgTube It's just a little black box thing and it is right behind the D-pad. :-)

@Fishifyfull what does the IC unit look like?

I recommend getting a new LCD screen. If that doesn't work, then you might just go ahead with a new PSP.
