Wer echte bayrische kultur erleben will, muss auch nach Bayern kommen!
Aber nicht nur nach München, oder andere große Städte kommen, die kleineren Dörfer und städte sind wichtiger!
Frag mal einen Ausländer was er von Deutschland alles kennt:" Weißwürstl, Oktoberfest, (Kölner dom Vileicht),Bier, Sauerkraut, Brezn..." Und was für Tänze?:" Schuhplattln!"
Alles Bayrisch, und so solls auch bleiben, egal wo wir sind, wenns richtig sein soll muss es Bayrisch sein!!!

ich habe seit 2 jahren eine beziehung mit einer fränkin und habe seitdem die tradition und lebensweisen des bayuwarischen völkchens kennengelernt.... herzlich, gesellig, züntig... das "mir san mir" gefühl ist sehr ausgeprägt... die aussage, dass die süddeutschen kalt und nicht gesellig sind, im gegensatz zu uns norddeutschen, kann ich definitiv nicht bestätigen.
also ich muss sagen, dass ich es gut finde, dass die bayern sich ihre tradition so erhalten... natürlich bleibt die tradition oft auf der strecke.... keines unserer bundesländer erfreut sich einer größeren beliebtheit im Ausland als unser bayrisches bundesland. das kommt nicht von ungefähr. ich mochte ehrlich gesagt das bayrische traditionsgut nicht wirklich..
@berlina88 It's a folk tradition, clearly. I'm sure there was a day when the many lumberjacks of the Bavarian and Austrian woodlands had musical accompaniment to increase production and keep spirits high. I think it's great.

I'm American, but I lived in Germany for 5 years, and when they do these Schuhplattler dances, it is an expression of total joy to live in one of the most beautiful parts of God's creation, die Alpen! Some of my ancestors were named Lippert and lived in the area between Heidelburg and Switzerland. Holtzhacker means woodchopper. I've danced to marches also and have Lederhosen.

German glory hasn't been destroyed. It's alive and well! This isn't an example of German lifestyle though. Bavarians are mountain people, and that would be like all of American being represented by hillbillies. Bavaria is like Disneyland to most Germans. We go there to have fun and "laugh" at the Lederhosen and Dirndls while we wear them!

It's a shame you don't know more of Germany than WWII. But yes, Bavaria is a state of Germany, but they kind of sort of consider themselves separate. They call themselves "Freistaat Bayern" meaning, simply, Free state Bavaria.
Bavaria is not a great representation of our culture. I love Bavaria and even lived there, but am originally from Rheinland-Pflaz. When Americans think of Germany they picture Bavaria because of Oktoberfest. That would be like if Germans saw America as the deep south.
You're probably right, perhaps I should learn more, that's why I watched the video. Trying to widen my perception of Germany. I've also been to an Oktoberfest in the states. Very popular. However, I'm also a black American, and exploring places that I've grown up unerstanding are full of skinheads and neo-nazis (like Germany and Russia) aren't the 1st places that come to mind when I'm looking for a cross-cultural exchange. If there's a different Germany than that, I'd like to get know it.
I can tell you Germany is not full of skinheads. I myself live in a city where there is close to zero Skinheads. I also learned that in other parts of Germany especially in small cities in Eastern Germany Skinheads rule the town.
I can't tell you how it is to be Black, because im White. BTW the city I live in is muenster. in the elections a few weeks ago only 175 out of 163925 votes were for the "Racist Nazi Party".

Oh there's DEFINITELY a different Germany than that! Don't be discouraged to try and visit Germany as well. There are more skinheads and neo-nazis in America than in Germany, I'm sure. I do suggest, if you choose to go that you visit western Germany though. The cities are cleaner, nicer, and much more modern. Maybe try renting some German films to see a side of Germany other than WWII. There's a lot about the 80's and the east and west uniting. Good for you for learning about another culture!

Tiroler Holzhackerbuam, komponiert vor ungefähr 60 oder 70 jahren von einem schweizer komponist.. dieses song ist inzwischen eine volksweise geworden, sie kommt immer wieder vor, und wurde auch von schuhplattlergruppen übernommen

German glory hasn't been destroyed. It's alive and well! This isn't an example of German lifestyle though. Bavarians are mountain people, and that would be like all of American being represented by hillbillies. Bavaria is like Disneyland to most Germans. We go there to have fun and "laugh" at the Lederhosen and Dirndls while we wear them!

Well, sure people act different when they see some black guy running around, but it doesn't mean their racist. You shouldn't be afraid of Germans :). Just be careful if you end up in some small town in east Germany. They are crowded with Skinheads.

It's a shame you don't know more of Germany than WWII. But yes, Bavaria is a state of Germany, but they kind of sort of consider themselves separate. They call themselves "Freistaat Bayern" meaning, simply, Free state Bavaria.
Bavaria is not a great representation of our culture. I love Bavaria and even lived there, but am originally from Rheinland-Pflaz. When Americans think of Germany they picture Bavaria because of Oktoberfest. That would be like if Germans saw America as the deep south.

You're probably right, perhaps I should learn more, that's why I watched the video. Trying to widen my perception of Germany. I've also been to an Oktoberfest in the states. Very popular. However, I'm also a black American, and exploring places that I've grown up unerstanding are full of skinheads and neo-nazis (like Germany and Russia) aren't the 1st places that come to mind when I'm looking for a cross-cultural exchange. If there's a different Germany than that, I'd like to get know it.

I can tell you Germany is not full of skinheads. I myself live in a city where there is close to zero Skinheads. I also learned that in other parts of Germany especially in small cities in Eastern Germany Skinheads rule the town.
I can't tell you how it is to be Black, because im White. BTW the city I live in is muenster. in the elections a few weeks ago only 175 out of 163925 votes were for the "Racist Nazi Party".

Oh there's DEFINITELY a different Germany than that! Don't be discouraged to try and visit Germany as well. There are more skinheads and neo-nazis in America than in Germany, I'm sure. I do suggest, if you choose to go that you visit western Germany though. The cities are cleaner, nicer, and much more modern. Maybe try renting some German films to see a side of Germany other than WWII. There's a lot about the 80's and the east and west uniting. Good for you for learning about another culture!

Very good dancing. Everybody is nicely in time and looks good when they do the Schuplattler. Almost as good as what we do in Australia! We have a beer machine for our break!
