  • It all is going to depend on when Saudi Arabia hits peak. At that point, we are up shits creek.

  • Does anyone know, how the "song" is called, that starts at 4:28?

  • @spartonsfan911 - We are at a stage called the bumpy plateau. Recessions will decrease demand, economy recovers, demand increases, surpasses supply, prices peak, and back down. This is the cylce moving forward for how long..who knows. The important thing to pointout is ERoEI for those that say we have oil shale/ t-sands. The production of those highly intensive extraction processes, using incredible amounts of water , increase polution, etc. will not meet the lost production of reg oil.

  • @Pikaaoil Very true, tar sands take too long to produce and cannot meet world demand.

  • over 3 years after and we are still doing ok. I hope its stays that way im only 16 years old i want to live a full life

  • @spartonsfan911 doing ok? barrel of oil is 100 dollars. its not ok. the decline has started.

  • @235RB yes we are doing ok. sure oil is more expensive but civilization has not ended and there are not major catastraphies involving the lack of oil going on.

  • @spartonsfan911 whos we? do you read the news? im not talking about the collapse yet, as of right now the price of oil is a threat to the recovery of the economy. regardless of what bernakee says. Oh yes there are catastrophies, what do you think the iraq war was? Sadam wanted to switch to the euro, well we stopped him, got the oil. so yes we have begun to see oil(energy) as a catalyst for wrong doings. do your homework.

  • @235RB I think of we as the world in general. Sure there are tons of terrible and regrettable things going on but that is unfortunately part of human nature and not so much due to the end of civilization. I disagree that there are cotastrophies, perhaps we have different understandings of the word. I am curious, when do you think this big crash is going to start?

  • @spartonsfan911 I would look into that, don't watch the mainstream media, they blow smoke up countries asses. Yes there are catastophies, alot had to do with OIL, even parts of WW2 and present day. not just war, look at the BP oil spill, for example, Oil is a major factor for bad things, its just fact. Human nature? Thats too broad and not evident. The big crash is not going to be quick, it will hopefully happen over the next few decades, and not any shorter.

  • @235RB you make some good points, thanks for your insight

  • @spartonsfan911 thanks, this is an interesting topic, its easy to look at it from one side, just form your own opinion, most of all make other people informed about this, word needs to get out.

  • I like the Koyaanisqatsii feel that some of the sequences have.

  • nuclear fusion, free abundant energy only years away so sorry but science proves your 'energy' scarcity wrong on some levels

  • without oil we're screwed. unless we change ad adapt our lives

  • Maybe your kids care!!!

  • Damn those are some sharp looking Fords

  • One way I prepared for peak oil was converting my home to a net-zero solar powered home that uses no oil or gas..I made a video about it called, "Preparing for Peak Oil"....

  • Oil is king and without it civilization ends as we know it.

  • @frank9007, oh please give it a rest already

  • @frank9007 only if we are too late in converting to renewable energy. Is it impossible to collect solar, wind ,Geothermal energy and convert it to hydrogen? No but I don't know if it's too late but saying we are defeated is as good as being defeated. Energy is so abundant we just have to stop listening to Oil companies and adopt better technology.

  • @MrROTD

This whole doc is a bit overacting doomsday thinking.

The only real truth in it is that many of the incredibly cheap energy (oil) sources are nearing its peak in the coming decades.

For example tar sands and shale oil alone can bring at least 2x the ammount of oil the world used up so far, and thats only with current technology... so theres allot more left then this doc likes us to believe, perhaps these guys had oilshares during the price spike times in wich this was made??

  • Whether there's a crash or not depends on a number of factors, not least the chance of panic buying, we've seen this in the past during fuel shortages. If this happens, food prices will also spike, and the value of currency will crash. It will be a stock market crash, it just depends if it's overnight or over a few years. It's all about demand vs supply, supply is down a bit this year, but that's ok as we're in a recession, and so demand is also down. It won't last, though.

  • Oil is a non-renewable resource. Plain and Simple. America is addicted to oil. The only way that our country can truly be free is if America kicks it's oil addiction and stops buying middle eastern oil.

  • it is renewable, grow enough trees to make oil for the next 150 million years and plant them. then we would have enough oil again.

  • @ecokid1991 oil is a renewable source and we have plenty of it. If America wants to be free her people need to be wise up and stop being stupid and believe all the shit they hear.

  • @ecokid1991 you know, i laughed with the people in 2003 or so when bush said we were addicted to oil. (i'm sure it was said before, but that's when i heard it) now i understand all this, and it's kinda scarey.

  • @ecokid1991

Right, because the u.s. is the only country in the world using it for everything from fuel to computers.

  • @romeosevendelta

the USA uses 25% of all oil refined all day everyday , it will not be the only country to feel the burn when scarcity hits, but it will be the first and ill bet complain the loudest.

  • @ecokid1991

And as a result loss Economic growth and a massive loss in population which every nation is depending on. America is no different from every other country but they actually know that Invading the middle east is an attempt to outlive the other nations.

  • every oil field gets depleted. every well eventually runs dry. This is why it will not always be cheap.

  • that's all b.s. prove it.

the Simple version :You can measure the circumference of the earth , you can calculate its absolute volume, the earth is finite, the resources are finite.

But Peak-oil is not about the last drop it's about the ability to extract enough to meet ever growing world demand.world oil extraction has plateaued since2005 demand is still growing. the two curves; (supplyand demand) are separating farther everyday.

  • let's face it - there's one congressman concerned about peak oil (out of hundreds) and maybe 5 oil industry types out of tens or hundreds of thousands -- I'd say they're a pretty fringe group and most of them are trying to peddle books !

  • Really. If that's the case. How come 150 years ago they had themselves a full on oil collapse with the depletion of whales.

Today, would we even know where to FIND whale-oil, and the price would be extravagant, for just a small vial of the stuff.

150 years from now, Oil may be just as expensive, but we may use some other substance, the concern is that geological oil was easily available, no such replacement exists today.

    See 1000 barrels a second.

  • too bad the price of gas is now much lower in the USA......if it stayed high....it would have forced us into other forms of energy

  • Thankfully it stayed high in the EU, means we have a few decades worth of technology to lisence to the Americans for efficient cars in the short term and advanced nuclear reactors and ITER in the long run...

  • Pray in one hand... This is all going to get pretty interesting.

  • what i love about those who claim peak oil is all a conspiracy is that they fail to realise peak oil has barely registered on public concern. if i mention 'peak oil' to most people in europe they still look at me non-plussed. If you actually watched this film you'd also learn that when geologist Dr hubert first tried to tell US government their oil production wold peak in 1971 he was laughed off the scene and since then oil companies have vigourously denied any oil shortage.

  • We are moving from plentiful, easy to get, cheep oil to scarce, hard to get expensive oil.

  • Damn! I was ready for science to go further!

  • yeah man i agree global warming is fake bullshit...the governments of the world are probably saying this shit to make money off green shit that doesnt work

  • keep consuming!

    everything is fine!

    go back to sleep....

  • you are not very wise to believe your words

  • whats the second song they play at about 3:14

  • It is a finite unrenewable resource. Therefore it cannot last "forever." There is only so much oil on the planet and it takes millions of years to produce so it is non-renewable on a human life timescale so you are incorrect.

  • "Judeo-Free Masonic-Geopolitical Deception Paradigm." Man . . .if gobbledygook and obfuscation were an Olympic event, Latimer would take all the gold medals.

  • We are dependent on a low cost production stream. All other forms of oil: deep, oil sand and shale, requires more investment (including catalytic cracking technologies etc). You can't get it cheaper than from easy crude and that's what we are running out of. This wil shift the base price and that's the problem. There tons of oil left, we'll have to pay more to get it out.

  • More and more people are learning about the "deep" oil discoveries. They are learning about the engineered oil shortage and refinery lies.

Your deception paradigm Status-qoe is getting harder to contain.

    Do the research.

    Just search "Oil shortage lie".

Then discover the ideology driving it and "all' of the other commodity manipulations.

    IAMTheWitness*com

  • mr. latimer,

I strongly disagree if you are suggesting that the oil shortage is a lie. The heart of the matter is that we have been growing spoiled with the concept of "it's cheap, it's legal, so no harm in using it". But our children will ask us "how comes that you guys did nothign to change the main energy source while the oil stocks were shrinking?" The amount of these stocks should inform only the SPEED of our change towards renewables, but never its direction.

    regards.

  • eccemarco,

As stated/implied before, the current Judaio-free masonic geo-political deception paradigm is currently being exposed at "every" level. If you decide to quibble about why it was implemented, that's your choice. If you choose to ignore where light is being applied into the darkness of deception, that's also your choice. Ignorance is bliss!

    IAmTheWitness*com

I suggest scroogle*org for your research queries. Anyone who cares enough to look will find the data publically available.

  • The energy density comment is way off, a barrel of oil is roughly equivalent to 1 person working for a year, but thw use of wind and solar power should be maximized NOW.

  • That's some scary shit there. Where's my bicycle?

  • i dont know, but i ride my every other day

  • Not much good unfortunately mate - you need to buy the bicycle - which in turn needs to be shipped from the factory, which in turn needs the raw materials for the bike to be shipped from source, which in turn need to be extracted - all this requires oil. Oh, and the tires are probably made at least in part from oil, as well as the hydraulic lines. The axles and chains all need to be lubricated using, yes you've guessed it, oil. I'm just going to walk instead.

  • It's a heck of a lot of good, weighs 1/100th what a car does, needs a minimal amount of oil and you can find bicycles that have been thrown away.

  • lets all die together

  • We can send robots to Mars thousands of miles away but car companies can't produce an electrical or solar battery that will be able to run 200 miles without charging? Yea right...

  • its called billions of dollars of funding for nasa, and govenment has had no reason to fund car companies. They'll fund computers (ibm, intel, etc.) making more powerful computers, but theyve had no reason to fund car companies. If you were a ceo of a company, why would you waste billions of dollars on finding something that might not even work, when you can spend billions on more merchandise and sell it for millions over your billions??

  • The car companies already have the technology they just won't mass produce it or take to the next level because the oil companies control them and the government which is also controled by the oil companies won't give the support and create the proper infrastracture for green engergy to work and replace oil energy or at least most of it in a decade or more.

  • where did u read that from. a magazine or something.

  • earth is covered with water

  • water has no energy?

  • lol all matter has energy (e=mc2). so yes water has energy

  • i meant its not combustible.

  • Its not combustible, but u can boil it. Im sure we can do something with boiling water, right?

  • well dont you need energy to boil water? Comes back to that. Thats how power generation plants work, we burn coal which heats and boils water which then we use the steam to turn turbines and then we cool/condense the steam back to water and the circle goes on.

  • The sun will boil water for free

  • If you watch Fox News, you can easily drill your way out the potential oil crisis. There is no way, that you can replace cheap middle eastern oil. What next, paint a lead bar and call it gold?

  • so?

  • this is why we need to go to mars.

  • Hahaha.. No, this is why we need a nuclear holocaust!

  • who cares

  • heres hoping you slip in the shower, breaking your neck, to be found naked on the floor by your neigbours, who then post your naked photo on the internet, you will be remembered as the "who cares douche" we shall all point and laugh, your mother will becry those who initiated this fiasco, we shall say...

    who cares.

  • @rgbda

And that kind of bullshit it why no one will ever take your cause seriously.

  • @rgbda Brilliant

  • lol i was trolling this video the whole time, its amazing you thought i was serious, but yeah,I has solar home.

  • Wonder how these crackpots explain the 5 miles deep oil in Tiger fields or the Oil under the Shale rock in Nevada.

Dinosaur blood and prehistoric plants....pfft..Liberal Environut Edumacation.

Any credible Geologist educated before the 70's knows that Hydrocarbons of all forms is inorganic material from deep earth that brews up (thus 5-20 mile deep deposits in solid rock)

This Dinosaur Blood bullshit is to scare people into thinking 1) it is rare and 2) desecrating dead animals is "Evil"

  • TheRealArchAngel,

In geologic terms, oil is a recent development. And it could be 5 miles deep, because what was once 5 miles deep was not always so.

Do you you know nothing about ocean rise and fall (due to the glacial periods that last far longer than one of the warm periods we live in now), tectonic rise and subduction, or simply natural accumulation over millions of years.

High school education sucks. Get more.

  • You are trying to tell me of Plate movement, degeneration, and regereation of the earth crust, but missed Erosion and deposit level of the 150 million matrk at 90 million mark.

Oil can be found from suraces near plate collisions and seperations currently tapped to 5 miles deep and visible to 20 miles while fossils for thoose time perions are dug up just a few feet to few hundred feet deep worldwide. That and if mass deaths = oil wouldn't it mean equal distrbution & not just were "Shale" is found?

  • hunger....calm down there are bicycles, horsewagons, and don't forget to plant your vegetables in the summer....

  • **hunger....calm down there are bicycles, horsewagons, and don't forget to plant your vegetables in the summer**

Synthetic Rubber is made from oil, Chain oil (duh), wD-40(duh),pesticides and fertilizers are made from oil, plastics are made from oil, acrylics, silicone, latex, vasiline is made from oil, and try smelting metal or making glass, or running automated factories without Fossil fuels, and the best material for giant windmills is Carbon Fiber...guess what Carbon Fiber is made from? (oil)

  • of course life could change but go just go a 150 years back when there was no steam or gas engine

and people made a living i watched a interesting documentary about the amish people...think about

hemp garments and so on...my point was this kind

telling people about total chaos and hunger...this makes people livin in fear..don't forget the first nation livin with nature...and think about that knowledge of today...my point was about propaganda.(bricks from clay)

  • no no science go further..

  • Movie is now available on iTunes.

  • we will die of the damage done by the pollution from oil aka co2 before the oil runs out. i am afraid

  • you are aware that plants need CO2 to grow, right? Also don't forget that humans naturally exhale carbon dioxide.

  • elbonCid - if I may politely suggest - bull.

Quit waiting on your government. Quit waiting on miracle patents.

We can change things - not in 40, or 50, or 70 years, but now. Use your car smarter - combine errands in the same part of town. Clean those funky fridge coils. Change your lighting. Try solar cooking - google "heaven's flame". I'm building my second oven now. Hang your clothes to dry - they'll last longer.

One person can't do much. Millions making small changes can do anything.

  • Depletion of Oil will result in huge economy crashes around the entire world. For example.. You're driving on the high way in your big Hummer H2 60mp/h or 120km/h and you run out of Gas you cant go any further Only in this case it won't be a hummmer which comes to a sudden stop.. it will be World economy.

  • We really need to find oil alternatives fast. Great Post.

  • that's impossible, and you know it...

  • it would take us 40 to 50 years if we found an alternative right now, to produce less than half of the oil supply ever made

  • I think it would take us even more than 70 years, even if we find some realistic "energetic miracle" (which won't happen), how will be possible to susbstitute all their derivates -like medicienes, plastics, modern composites, etc- in just 70 years??

    that's completely imposible...

  • hemp.

  • You're right, we'll have to use hemp. It has a million and one uses, and it grows fast and easy. Of coarse there will be dumbasses like "UGonnaEatUrtots" who will say we can't do that. But you know what, forget them, they are idiots/potheads. They will be left in the dark when the power goes out. Leave them behind. Most of them are just high school kids anyway.

I think we all know what we are going to have to do. We will have to have a simple way of life.

  • i agree back to basics less bling bling

    check the "amish people".......

  • They use petroleum products too....but also walk 5 kilometres to see the neighbour.

As much as I hate to admit it, I drive 2 miles to buy a litre of milk, or 2 litres of ginger ale. I wonder what my carbon footprint is.

  • Amish will be taken advantage first. Their food, women and supplies will be taken from them unless you have Amish with guns.

  • I doubt, most people that would steal from the Amish could manage to find them non the less muster the strength to go get their produce.

  • Your probaly right about Amish, though I don't think they are hiding.........yet. You can see them on the street where I live. Do you know if the Amish use guns?

  • It all depends. Their are two main orders of the Amish. Old and New. The old order probably would only allow blackpowder, and that would have to be voted on community by community. New order Amish can have cars and stuff, so maybe guns? They are opposed to the military and are pacifists. I doubt they will hide, I just can't see towns that have Amish turning on them. They are really friendly and are happy to teach "the plain life" to "The English". People should learn from them not attack them.

  • I don't see towns turning on them, In fact most will probaly be glad to learn from the Amish, but you will always have a wicked few who just don't operate in that manner.

  • Yah, I can see people sneaking out at night and stealing from watermelon patches. heh! I honestly see outer suburbs of the metro area being the hot spot of violence. I bet the inner cities will get cleaned up real fast once people figure out why rail roads are important. Their are going to be some messy spots out in rural areas. But Amish country is going to benefit from this in all honesty. Any were their is major agribusiness is going to be a nightmare for a while.

  • yeah let's smoke and we will forget about it;)

  • even if it is possible, how could a normal fragile economy get the patents of all this new discoveries??

It's even more imposible for a normal citizen of an average country.

  • not if, but when we run out of oil, i believe society will fall......

  • This is going to happen in the timeframe of 8 - 10 years from now (according to experts) and that the majority of you will slowly starve to death within the first 3 months after it's depletion. All you people who are wondering why the government doesn't step in and do something about it. THEY CAN'T Our government has been aware of the problem since the 70's and guess what their solution is ... PRAY! I guess we'll all know what it's like to live like the amish in a few years ... lol.

  • We have ALWAYS had the alternative right under our noses:

    Industrial HEMP.

  • Oil alternatives have existed for decades; if you are so concerned with the environment, why not research alternative energy? The problem isn't a lack of oil alternatives, it's that there is no one pushing for the implementation of them. Instead we have tax-loving politicians telling us that we must support a tax to fund "research" for alternative fuels. Hemp is a good start; it has 25,000 different uses and one of them is as a fuel source.

  • Your statement is complicated, the real problem is politics. When November comes around I am going to write Ron Paul's name in on my balet.

Everytime a breakthrough in artifical fuel comes about the price of oil drops quickly.

  • Well, Clinton and McCain should cheer you up, they just proposed abolishing tax on petrol. Sounds daft to me, but... this is what you want, this is what you get!

  • I was specifically referring to the tax on breathing (carbon) that many politicians claim will help fund research for alternative sources of energy. The gasoline tax's purpose is to help fund roads and their construction; as far as I know there is no need to abolish it.

  • You are a fucking dumbass and are the reason why people still associate hemp with getting high. Industrial Hemp has virtually no THC content since it is not Marijuana (it is only related to the Marijuana plant much as a Jalapeno and Sweet Bell Pepper are related). Getting high isn't cool, it isn't funny; it's idiotic and clearly you are a product of this idiocy.

  • Lol it's fun. It's all like "wooooah weeeeoh wooooooooooooooooooooah, crazy good, whooa whoooooooa whoa.

  • Let me repeat myself: "Getting high isn't cool, it isn't funny; it's idiotic and clearly you are a product of this idiocy."

  • The internet was born from idiocy.

  • The internet was born from DARPA and up until maybe 4 years ago, the rampant idiocy was kept at bay. I was using the internet before you were even born. Do you love drinking your fluoride? I see it's having an amazing effect on your intelligence.

  • LOL yes i do.

  • To UGonnaEatUrtots: yeah if you're an idiot bwa hahahaha

  • I've read about this.

    Its pretty fucked up.

  • Thanks for this video.
