Paul never says that he received his information from Peter or James. This is just a Gary Habermas assumption. Why doesn't he tell us if Peter or James gave him the information? Was he afraid of being contradicted or called a liar? In fact, Paul tells us who told him..Galatians 1:12"For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ." But can we trust the word of a murderer who had no witnesses and trashed the Law, Circumcision, and the Sabbath? Ebal
Paul received the creedal statement listed in 1 Cor 15:3-8 from (presumably Peter). He was given the original knowledge of the Gospel itself from the risen Christ. Gal 1:12 refers to his encounter with Christ.
@greyfox121 Thank you dude, I am actually writing an article on the case for the resurrection and I had the same objection as ebaltrace, and you have clearified it for me. I'm glad God has you to help me without you even knowing you were going to help me.
Actually, yes he did in his other early and authentic letter Galatians. Paul independently confirms Acts that he went to Jerusalem and met with Peter and James there and preached with them, and then at the council of Jerusalem, they still had nothing left to add to what he preached. So yes, it is definitely the most plausible he received there from that evidence, and the fact it would make no sense anyway to NOT assume so when he clearly met and preached with two of the best witnesses in history
