@dickmysuck13 The original theme was the instrumental portion of Eric Clapton's "Motherless Children", which most assuredly did not suck. I have no idea why they changed it to this dreck.
god i remember this show from when my folks used to watch this all the time when i was a kid, just happened to stumble upon this video when i was looking for something else. brings back alot of memories.
That would have been a great crime fighting show. Bob Hope and Pope John Paul co star in HOPE AND POPE! Hope will make you laugh yourself to death while the Pope will send you to HELL!!!!!
@EvilSlyGuy No, it was a uk show called not the 9 o'clock news! look it up on wikipedia it even says it is based in a british show caled not the 9 o'clock.
@EvilSlyGuy Ok man whatever you wanna think. But the uk version is better lol look it up though, America bses/steals all the shows off British and visa versa.
@pipinfresh1 It's not what I think, it's what the dictionary thinks, different words with different meanings. I think this version is far better but you are from the UK so of course you think your version is better, after all you did come in here to make sure that everyone knew that this was based off a UK show.. Base/steals? Again, two words two meanings, funny how you lump them together.
@EvilSlyGuy dude you are looking into this way too much! All i was trying to say is the British one came first and the Americans used it. Sorry if i didn't articulate the correct manner of words to satisfy your condescending nature.
@pipinfresh1 Condescending? Let's not get into name calling or hypocrisy, it was you that first came in here to let everyone know this was (stolen) based on your british show, not me.
Hello, in the early 80's I submitted a Sniglet to NNTN on HBO and am looking for that episode. The sniglet is TELEVATOR, introduced by Stuart Pankin who was depicted on a television as the screen rolled out of control and he was looking up and down in confusion.
Thanks for any leads on helping find this episode!
Reagan, complete lack of artistic expression, compete lack of political expression, pastel colors everywhere, it was like Miami took over the world. Thankfully, I was 4-14 years old then. If not for the 80's, I wouldn't realize how lucky I was to do my HS years in the 90's.
What happened to Mitchell Laurence??? This was one of the funniest shows on TV during it's time. Now dude is on ESPN's pool tourney coverage. He's dry as all get out now. I don't know if he lost his "funny" or what, but everytime I see him on ESPN I just shake my head. Like damn homie what happened???
Why didn't Stuart Pankin ever become a star? He was brilliant.
I remember one segment when Westmoreland was suing CBS and Ariel Sharon was suing some other media outlet in the US. They set it up dramatically as "Who's the Toughest Ex-General of them all?"
They are masters of out-of-context sequences. HBO proved to be a great outlet for these sorts of comedy programs, post whatever you have, because this stuff has not been on the air for many years!
Better than The Daily Show? NNTN has nothing to do with The Daily Show because it had nothing to do with reality. I'm not saying NNTN was not as good or better than The Daily Show, just that comparing them is not at all useful. However, comparing things is rather easy for the weak. ;-) Jeez, NNTN wasted 3 minutes on the credits! Other than that NNTN was great stuff.
Thank you for sharing this! I've been searching for NNTN stuff for years, and decided to search for it on YouTube for the umpteenth time. Well worth the search.
Great show the should have some kind of "Best of" on DVD. But I like the opening that used the Clapton version of "Motherless Children" as the theme song.
I guess they figured, this is HBO. No ads (except the fake ones). So we can make the intro as long as we want. :)

@pipinfresh1 No, based means the foundation is the same but nothing else is, stolen is a different word and has another meaning. Based not stolen.
