@jamestoni nah mate, i disagree, i was brought up on vynil and technics, i moved on to lap top and midi mixer a year or two ago, and i love it, just for the sheer simplicity of not having to purchase expensive records, and lugging about a heavy record bag. unfortunatley cdjs and midi laptops set ups are the future!!!!! your gooing to the wrong places if you cant get a good atmosphere with the current set ups!!!

so he had to pitch pitch up every record, there is no display you can see the BPM, you can't see the track as a file like in laptops and the new cd'js, everything is about listening and feeling, but who cares, at the end it has to be a good party and the music has to fid!

Carl earnt his fee, for sure. The stress playing like that must have been huge. No excuse for today's DJs not working the mixer and Carl went out of his way to wreck their minds. When he switched his style he did less with the mixer but the music wansn't easily mashed up like the old skool trax-they were long and minimal-Sasha went the same, not as creative as in 90-92. Spoilt it 4 me.

totally agree mate, i am using CD at the moment because:

1. all my oldschool tracks are on cd

2. cant get my hands on my dads old vinyl songs due to he sold em :(

3. havent got my set of vinyl decks yet

if i could get all the oldschool tracks on vinyl then totally would be on vinyl but it is scarce to get this stuff on 12" vinyl :(

in my view , the scene back then for any dj would have been hard graft, travelling up and down the uk, playing at illegal/legal (rarely) raves as they were, but the other hard part would be the choice of choons to play during the hour or so set at that time, -there were so many anthems, styles, but they were all mixed up like ingredients and came together instead of todays big dance devide which i think along with bad media has killed the whole scene and the word "RAVE". Music 2day - laughable!
