And it's the 26th of June 2011 today! So going by the above date, this makes it almost 19 years - best days of my life and I was only year 8/year 9 at secondary school - loved the 1990's - the music was something special. It's a cliche` but an honest one - it's not quite up to scratch these days!
@HitchHikersBlues ... well said. We all know why it changed so dramatically and so quickly... you can never have a good thing and keep it for yourself if you know what I mean. Never ever any violence, only hugs, introductions, massages, squeezes and very fast dancing with loads of smiles and laughs. People these days are as screwed up as the drugs are!
@HitchHikersBlues Saw Cox at the "Mania" party when I was in Sydney in 1994 (I think?) MAYHEM... people were screaming and throwing themselves like it was a fucking 'Aussie rapture'. I walked into the main hall in this little factory near the Sydney Airport and it was like my hair stood right up and the skin all over my body lit up in goose bumps and stripped right off of my frame... the yelling and screaming was so wild I was afraid and thrilled all at once. Wildest experience I've ever known!
Help, I'm looking for a song around the early 1990's and I'm sure it was done by Fantazia ? The words go like " I Scream you Scream we all Scream for Ice cream" Can anybody remember who made it ?
@arabdaz yeh ya right mate carl cox the "3 deck wizard" was in a different league bak then g.e real a few years after this used 4 decks but sounded pants.
@nokels69 better like that. fuckin cd decks and laptops! shite. d js had to work back then. now the fun is taken out of it, Far better music and pills. best days of my life!
@jamestoni nah mate, i disagree, i was brought up on vynil and technics, i moved on to lap top and midi mixer a year or two ago, and i love it, just for the sheer simplicity of not having to purchase expensive records, and lugging about a heavy record bag. unfortunatley cdjs and midi laptops set ups are the future!!!!! your gooing to the wrong places if you cant get a good atmosphere with the current set ups!!!
@jimmy08LTFC you know am a dj too, I dj with laptop and controller, of course you have to mix these days, of course there is still a lot practice behind a good dj, but!
I don't know how old those turntables are, its in 1992!
so he had to pitch pitch up every record, there is no display you can see the BPM, you can't see the track as a file like in laptops and the new cd'js, everything is about listening and feeling, but who cares, at the end it has to be a good party and the music has to fid!
come on this was the way that Carls hard style started off and got noticed different from the progressive house sounds in the background... He liberated an area of the club scene that was needed and welcomed back then...not me personally I preferred Sasha but nowadays Carl is far better!!!
got to back up mc's here. sounds shit now but always work live. you had ten dj's basically playin same dubs. this is mc lenni. bassman man parris and conrad used to be amazin
Carl earnt his fee, for sure. The stress playing like that must have been huge. No excuse for today's DJs not working the mixer and Carl went out of his way to wreck their minds. When he switched his style he did less with the mixer but the music wansn't easily mashed up like the old skool trax-they were long and minimal-Sasha went the same, not as creative as in 90-92. Spoilt it 4 me.
Three deck champion in the place to be. how did Carl keep his focus with the M.C roaring in his monitors? who was the M.C anyway? Can't see Oakenfold matching those skills, and I rate Oakenfold highly.
lol gay shit. all people do at raves is swing wildly and jump up and down and stupid shit like that. they're so wasted on x they feel like they have some "higher energy" or that they're "connected to the music" but to sober people they look like idiots. fucktards
And just for the record cos some have said this was at Donnington.....WRONG!! It was called BOOK OF LOVE AMNESIA HOUSE & it was in Northampton .... its in Brafield which is outskirts of Northampton...its still there now & I go back every now n again!! to try get the momories....they still use it for a banger track.
Fuckin top shit man still sounds good to this day!!! I was there at this one....gives me goose bumps?? WHY O WHY cant it come back cos even at 36 I would still go & so would thousands of other people from back in the day!! 90-93 we was original we made the scene....HARDCORE WILL NEVER DIE....BIG RESPEC TO E.S.P. NORTHAMPTON. MILWAUKEES BEDFORD
Interesting, just read all comments...We had a similar scene '98-'00 Miami on So.Bch at The Mix..DejaVu!
I could say all the same quotes "E's not the same" "The kids these days dont have a clue" "Dj's today are all commercial crap" "Used to hit our 'peak' at 5am" "It all went 2 sh!t when the gov cracked down..Oct,Nov '00" It's weird but our experience started 7 years after UK but we lived it just the same..madProps UK and C Cox for starting what me and my friends call "The GOOD OLE DAYS"
@jjtreml is that mc lenny??If so that man ruined so many sets!!I got some wicked tapes from amnesia and him sreaming on them!!!Why did they ever av him as resident, maddness!!!Best thing amnesia ever did was blanked his voice on the new yrs eve 1992 tapes(jack frost my fav)
Quite a Gentleman mr.Cox First time I Witnessed him live was 1995 in the Furnace club Dublin Ireland along with Alex P of the Orb F.A.C.T. was the album of the day then what a time !
I reckon it was before May as that was exam time so not@gigs,Well certainly not on the''kilkenny''Beer(remember that stuff?)as I was that night-((went down like velvet but the chemical hangover was something else!(Didn't indulge in any thing unlawful at that time either)not being cryptic))I was into the beats&trying to create same/similiar myself with others never happened though!Shame?I Wonder what happened the demos?Furnace was way smaller than Crosbie's theatre looking back more intimate
in my view , the scene back then for any dj would have been hard graft, travelling up and down the uk, playing at illegal/legal (rarely) raves as they were, but the other hard part would be the choice of choons to play during the hour or so set at that time, -there were so many anthems, styles, but they were all mixed up like ingredients and came together instead of todays big dance devide which i think along with bad media has killed the whole scene and the word "RAVE". Music 2day - laughable!
defo agree with you, u see some nights being advertised and they say RAVE NIGHT....u go there and every song is a fucking remix of Show Me Love by Robin S....no one in my generation appreciates what this music did to inspire dance music as a whole
thanks loads just found it on one of my dads old white label cd's. amazing song just in the middle of playing it on my DJ decks :) thanks loads for it!
Can only think of 3 good mc's, lenni bassman and man paris, think this is lenni, anyone remember that fucking cock 'loud and nasty from shellys, and the ever awful MC LETHAL from kinetic, ruined many a good tape/night, think they thought they were essential to a good ol' E's up, who were the cunt who allways used to say' rewind boss, rewind, can i get a rewind, and make the DJ 'rewind', not craig david, not that I'm moaning or owt lol, probly thought the mc was good in the heat of the moment!
all mc should know when to shut the f k up they are there to improve the night not chat over every puka choooon!!!!!!! on a better note they were the best days of my life peace to all old school ravers DO YOU REMEMBER
MC's do my bloody head in. I was at Astoria once and an MC just repeated the DJ's name over and over "Chris Paul, Chris Paul, Chris Paul" he got bloody paid to be a pain the arse.
we had it there & then best choons, djs, pills were worth the 25 quid, then the goverment came out with the criminal justice bill no more open raves, but we made history & im proud to be part of it....if it rocks its carl cox!
thanks to whoever put this on here. surely someone can make these raves happen again. 41 now and nothing has touched this sort of music since, probably never will. best thing ive ever done raving
The want to bring this stuff back. You can guarantee the little wannabes would get their generic pop shite shoved up their arses by the kids if this came back.
can anyone please tell me the track that comes in at 2.35 and the hey yeah yeah track that follows. thanks :)

Bloody Hell - '92 amazing summer. Went to this plus Fantazia Summertime & Donnington. Book of Love rocked. Respect to all that were there.

The music has never been as good since..

The want to bring this stuff back. You can guarantee the little wannabes would get their generic pop shite shoved up their arses by the kids if this came back.
We definitely need an old skool revival :)

It's a shame, almost scary, to think that most of these people are now in their 40's.
Time is a bastard.
I want to go back.
